TEAMS: Atlanta Hawks

From NESN:

Fans get to shoot halfcourt shots all the time. Whether for money, a car, free tickets to a future game or some other prize, the halfcourt shot is a longstanding tradition during breaks in action at NBA games.

In the long history of halfcourt shots, however, the one taken Friday during the Hawks-Jazz game might be the most unusual ever.

Taking the unfortunately titled “Money Shot,” a season ticket-holder reared back for a Matt Ryan-style football pass that lofted toward the rim and — plunk! — came to rest on the back of the rim. Honestly, it was more impressive than actually hitting a halfcourt shot.

  • It looks like the ball is under inflated.
  • you did see the guy bouncing the ball normally right?? lmao
  • Underinflating doesn't make sense. That would give a rim shot a better chance at going in and I'm sure they would not try to tilt the advantage in favor of the contestant. And like Cyberbink said... he was bouncing the ball normally and it looks like the correct amount of air... about 8psi for a regulation ball.
  • Check out my 7 some of my son's shots on his season highlight video. By the way, he is 7 years old.

  • HE SHOULD PASS MORE.
  • TYPICAL SPOILED BALL HOG WHOSE PARENTS ARE OBNOXIOUS. WONDER HOW THE OTHER PLAYERS ON "SHOOTING STAR'S" TEAM FEEL ABOUT IT. REMEMBER MOM, THERE'S NO I IN TEAM AND THE OTHER "NON-SHOOTING STARS" HAVE AS MUCH RIGHT TO PLAY AS HE DOES. I'LL BET DAD IS THE COACH.
  • not enough air in the ball
  • It's a jump ball. He's gotta face off against one of the Jazz players for the $1000.
  • Did he win?
  • bigshow..your kid is OK, not a phenom by any means but has good potential. Theyre doing cross overs and lay ups by the time theyre 8 but hes got a good shot and decent size. definitely teachable. good luck
  • The jazz rims are fixed...just like in the arcades of a traveling carnival.

Atlanta Hawks Fan Gets Ball Stuck on Rim During Half-Court Shot (Video)

During Friday night’s Hawks vs. Jazz game, a lucky Atlanta fan named Kevin had a chance at $1,000 if he made a half court shot.  He went with the over hand baseball throw, which everyone knows is a rookie move.  Somehow the ball ended up magically getting stuck on top of the rim.  Didn't think that was possible from a strait on angle.  The announcer then went up and grabbed...

Hawks fan’s half-court shot for $1,000 is the most amazing miss you will ever see

Kevin, an Atlanta Hawks season ticket holder, was chosen to take the Money $hot (Ed. note: yep, that’s what it’s called) at halftime of the Hawks-Jazz game this past Friday night. If he makes the half-court shot he’s $1,000 richer, and if he misses he gets bupkus.  As you witnessed while watching the video above, Kevin missed the Money $hot, but his miss was so spectacular...

Atlanta Hawks: Off-Season Upgrading Options are Plenty

With the Atlanta Hawks trading the behemoth known as Joe Johnson’s contract and Marvin Williams’ bloated contract last summer and with Josh Smith’s contract up at the end of the year, the Hawks will have a massive amount of cap space in the off-season. With up and coming point guard, Jeff Teague also a free agent this off-season, the only players signed on past 2013-14 is...

Atlanta Hawks set new records for futility

The Hawks have been in Atlanta since 1968, but have existed as a franchise since 1949.  In those 64 seasons, the Hawks have scored 65 or fewer points 66 times.  They have failed to score 60 points just 21 times.  On Monday night, the Hawks made it an even 22 in an embarrassing 97-58 loss to the Bulls.  The pathetic offensive output is the lowest since the team moved to Atlanta...

Carmelo Anthony started fast without coach’s knowledge

Carmelo Anthony has a knack for generating all of the wrong attention. Just when it seemed that this year would be different the New York Knicks leader has us talking less MVP and more TMZ. Atlanta Hawks Scored 5 Points in a Quarter and Taj Gibson Posterized Anthony Tolliver

The Atlanta Hawks had one of the worst games I've ever seen from an NBA team last night.  They finished the game with 58 points, and had a quarter in which they only scored 5 points.  That has to be an NBA record for worst quarter ever.  They ended up losing the game to the Chicago Bulls 97-58.  The Bulls Taj Gibson added some salt to the wound when he posterized Atlanta’s...

John Wall Returns, Remains Fast, Still Needs To Learn To Shoot

Wizards 93, Hawks 83 [Saturday] ***JOHN WALL BACK!  In something of a surprise return (a surprise to me, at least — I had no idea he was about to come back), Wall helped his Wizards achieve their first win streak (two games) of the season with a 21-minute, 14-point contribution (5-11, 4 AST/3 TO) off the bench.  It was a feel-good game for the Wizards in more ways than one, as...

Bulls 97, Hawks 58

Carlos Boozer had 20 points and 13 rebounds, Luol Deng scored 18 points and the Chicago Bulls held Atlanta to a franchise-low 20 points in the first half of a 97-58 victory over the Hawks on Monday night. Reserve forward Mike Scott scored 10 points to lead Atlanta as none of the starters reached double figures. Josh Smith and Kyle Korver had nine points each. Jeff Teague had a...
