The Atlanta Hawks have named Mike Budenholzer as their next head coach, the team has announced. Budenholzer has spent the past 19 seasons as a coach with the San Antonio Spurs.“We are thrilled to have Mike as the next coach of the Atlanta Hawks. He has an incredible basketball acumen and has a keen awareness of the league and what it takes to be successful," Ferry said. "His experience and four championships over the last 17 years provide a tremendous foundation for his leadership of our team.”For the last six seasons, Budenholzer was the Spurs’ No. 1 assistant coach to Gregg Popovich.The Hawks have been in the market for a new head coach since they recently parted ways with Larry Drew.
