Hawks Rookie Stunned The NBA On Sunday

Down by just one point with only 0.4 seconds left in OT, the Hawks made a great play.

As the ball was being tossed inbound, the Bulls expected it to go to Trae Young, the team’s premiere shooter and biggest star.

But instead Young was playing as a decoy on the court, giving rookie star AJ Griffin the ability to tip the ball up into the basket right as the buzzer sounded.

The Hawks won 123-122 with one of the most thrilling final seconds of the year.

The Greatness of Griffin

What a finish for Griffin, who is really coming into his own during his first year in the league.

The forward has started in 6 games so far and has averaged 10 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist a game.

He’s been reliable for 44.6% of his field goal attempts and 33% of his threes.

You can expect to see even more of Griffin after Sunday night’s stunning game-winner.

If you rewatch Griffin’s final shot, it’s even more jaw-dropping because you see how he had to literally contort his body and twist himself to get the shot off.

This was actually the second buzzer-beater for Griffin this year.

Back on November 19, Griffin sealed a victory against the Toronto Raptors with another last-second shot.

This makes him the first player in Hawks history to have multiple game-winning buzzer-beaters in the same season.
