What happened: The Indiana Pacers arent going away. After it looked as if the Miami Heat might take control of the Eastern Conferenc finals, the Pacers responded with a 99-92 win Tuesday night at Bankers Life Fieldhouse to tie the series 2-2. After trailing 89-86 with five minutes remaining, the Pacers closed the game with a 13-3 spurt. Center Roy Hibbert led the Pacers with 23 points and had 12 rebounds and guard Lance Stephenson had 20. Forward LeBron James led the Heat with 24 points and guard Mario Chalmers had 20. James fouled out with 56 seconds remaining. It marked the first time James has fouled out since June 3, 2012, last years East finals against Boston, and just the second time ever the playoffs. Indiana looked to be in trouble after being walloped 114-96 at home in Sundays Game 3. But the Pacers, who outrebounded Miami 49-30, were able to bounce back. The turning point: Trailing 89-86 with five minutes left, it looked as if the Pacers might have blown the game. Indiana had led 81-72 before the Heat went on a 17-5 run. But then it was time for a Pacers spurt of their own. Indiana reeled off eight straight points to take a 94-89 lead. Hibbert had five of them. The difference maker: The Heat couldnt handle Hibbert inside. The 7-foot-2 center shot 10 of 16. Of his 12 rebounds, six were offensive and six defensive. Hibbert saved his best for last. He scored seven key fourth-quarter points. What it means: While the San Antonio Spurs are resting in preparation for the June 6 start of the NBA Finals, the Heat will be playing a long series. The Spurs locked up the West berth in the finals on Monday. The earliest the East finals now can end is Saturday. If it goes seven games, it wont end until Monday. What's next: Game 5 of the series is at 8:30 p.m. Thursday at AmericanAirlines Arena. Chris Tomasson can be reached at christomasson@hotmail.com or on Twitter @christomasson.

After getting blasted for not having Roy Hibbert in at the end of Game One you have to think that Indiana Pacers head coach Frank Vogel would be sure and have one of his best players in at a crucial moment of the game. Like in Game Three when the Miami Heat were building a pretty healthy first half lead, but instead Hibbert was no where to be seen. He did return to the game, and...

Happy Hour – Can the Pacers Do It?

As I expected, the Miami Heat and Indiana Pacers series has been highly competitive. People that were picking the Heat to just roll over the Pacers weren’t paying attention to the matchups in this series. The Pacers size is a clear advantage over Miami, and add Roy Hibbert dominating on the offensive side of things, and that is why this series is now a best of three. The question...

Stan Van Gundy: Roy Hibbert Doesn’t Hold A Candle To Dwight Howard

The enigma that is Dwight Howard just suffered through one of the most draining and personally difficult seasons he’s ever had to deal with. A lot of Howard’s struggles were due in part to him being sensitive and unable to mesh with Kobe Bryant.  Those struggles have caused many a pundit and so-called expert to question if Howard is still the premiere big man in the NBA. Many...

Heat - Pacers Game Four: When Inevitable Isn't

West and Hibbert, mostly The thing about the Heat is that while they are a dominant team (and as they are now 48-6 over their last 54 games, they are that good)... it's a very thin dominance, since it's so star-dependent. They are always a turned ankle or indifferent effort away from looking like, well, a team without consistent bench play or dominant bigs, dependent on...

Remembering that Larry Bird is the mastermind behind the Pacers

NBA.com’s David Aldridge has a fantastic column on how Larry Bird built the Indiana Pacers: It was Bird that traded for Roy Hibbert on Draft night in 2008, a center prospect considered so slow and so heavy that other teams picking just ahead of Toronto — which took Hibbert with the 17th pick and then sent him to Indiana — didn’t even have Hibbert on their boards. It was Bird...
