'I take the blame!' Anthony Edwards steps up gracefully after embarrassing defeat to Nuggets at home
Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

The NBA Playoffs Western Conference Semifinals saw the Denver Nuggets upset the Minnesota Timberwolves 117-90 in Game 3 on Friday. The Timberwolves’ first postseason defeat came from this defeat.

The series is currently 2-1 in Minnesota’s favor. On account of this, Anthony Edwards was questioned post-game after his side’s loss to the Nuggets, to which he reacted gracefully.

Specifically, Edwards had a bad night. In the defeat, the 22-year-old shooting guard ended with eight rebounds (8-of-15 total), five assists, and 19 points. The remainder of the team was affected by his lackluster performance throughout the entire game. The Minnesota crowd was never engaged in the game either.

I don't know man.. it's on me. I take the blame for this one as I came out flat. I can't afford to do that. Anthony Edwards said to a group of reporters post-game

Following a close first quarter, the Nuggets surged ahead with a 12-4 run, securing an eight-point lead, their biggest of the series. Building on their momentum, Denver dominated the second period with a massive 17-5 run, extending their lead to 20 points after a 3-pointer by Christian Braun. This put the Timberwolves in a tough spot, nearly out of contention.

In the third quarter, the Nuggets extended their lead to over 20 points in a flash. Aaron Gordon sank two 3-pointers, followed by another from Michael Porter Jr., putting the Timberwolves in a tough spot. The Nuggets widened the gap to 27 points by the end of the quarter and sealed the 27-point victory without much trouble.

Anthony Edwards offers words of confidence to his teammates after Nuggets Game 3 loss

The Nuggets will be ecstatic that they managed to overcome the Timberwolves‘ best defense after losing to them in two consecutive games. Notably, Edwards seemed pretty relaxed and was not bothered by this loss, despite having an off day on the court.

Edwards offered his teammates some confident words as the game ended in the Target Center. Edwards’ three-word response to the defeat toward the end of the game was captured by ESPN’s hot mics.

We good fellas. It's a series, man. It's a series, bruh. It's a series, bro. We good. First to four games. Anthony Edwards said

Despite the Timberwolves losing this game against the Nuggets, they still are in the lead 2-1 and will be hoping to bounce back in the upcoming Game 4 matchup on Sunday, May 12.
