The answer could come in the return on the deal if the expiring contract that is Erick Dampier gets moved for Tyson Chandler or Samuel Dalembert. (Marcus Camby is another interesting big man on the trade block, but there's no reason for the Clippers to give up his expring contract to get Dampier's.) Ryan Hollins, a restricted free agent, has potential but can't be counted on to start for a playoff team at this point in his career. Brandon Bass and James Singleton both contributed for stretches at center last season, but the unrestricted free agents aren't big enough to start there on a regular basis. If the Mavs move Dampier, they might be forced to find his replacement with the mid-level exception. They made a mid-level mistake with Gana Diop last summer. Let's look at the best big men on the mid-level market this summer.
