After several rumors and reports this weekend speculated that the Celtics were in hot pursuit of troubled Sacramento Kings center Demarcus Cousins, USA Today’s NBA writer Sam Amick is reporting that a deal between the two teams won’t happen:
DeMarcus Cousins is not going to the Celtics. Teams continue to be told that he’s not available. That is all.

Speculation heightened on Saturday when the C’s waived Jarvis Varnadoand Kris Joseph, which some anticipated would open the door to a multiplayer deal. Among the names rumored to be involved in a potential Cousins swap included Avery Bradley, Jared Sullinger, Courtney Lee, and Fab Melo.
A guy like Cousins, even with all his attitude and off-the-court issues, would be a valuable asset for the Celtics, who have been struggling and are looking to limit the minutes of veteran Kevin Garnett. But alas, it doesn’t look like Cousins will be in green any time soon.
