James Harden, De'Aaron Fox headline list of biggest 2023 NBA All-Star Game snubs

Here are the biggest 2023 NBA All-Star Game snubs.

James Harden, Philadelphia 76ers

Harden's teammate Joel Embiid was a snub for the starting lineup, but the coaches around the Association flat-out disrespected Harden. The 2018 MVP is averaging 21.4 points, 11.0 assists (second-highest of his career) and 6.4 rebounds per game for the team with the fourth-best record in the NBA. 

While Harden's numbers compare favorably to recent season averages, 2023 snaps a streak of 10 consecutive All-Star appearances. The last time he didn't make the team, he was coming off the bench for Oklahoma City during his Sixth Man of the Year Award-winning campaign. 

De'Aaron Fox, Sacramento Kings

Sacramento will be represented in Salt Lake City by Domantas Sabonis, and while he's deserving in his own right, Fox should've been headed there with him. The Kings, the third seed in the Western Conference, have been the biggest surprise in the NBA this season, and their success is not because of the victory beam.

The 25-year-old is averaging 24.3 points, 6.1 assists and 4.3 rebounds this season, but he does his best work in crunch time. His average of 7.6 points per game in the fourth quarter is the sixth-highest in the NBA this season. He trails only Stephen Curry, LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kyrie Irving and Lonzo Ball. With the exception of Ball, all are starting the All-Star Game. 

Anthony Edwards, Minnesota Timberwolves

Karl-Antony Towns has been out since November, and the Rudy Gobert trade was an obvious mistake, yet Minnesota is the sixth seed in the West thanks in large part to Edwards. 

The first overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft has kept the Timberwolves afloat with an 18-16 record since Towns went down. He's posting career-highs across the board this season, averaging 24.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game. 

Edwards has been a tenacious defender too. He's tied for sixth in the NBA in steals per game (1.7), and his 111.9 defensive rating is sixth-best among qualified guards. If Edwards continues to develop at his current pace, he won't miss out on many more All-Star Games. 

Snubbed due to injury

Phoenix's Devin Booker hasn't played since Christmas due to an aggravated groin injury, but when healthy, there weren't many playing better than him. He's averaging a career-high 27.1 points per game, along with 5.6 assists and 4.6 rebounds. To put into perspective how valuable Booker was to the Suns, they're 8-12 since he went down. 

Lakers forward Anthony Davis has played in only 29 games this season, but as usual, he's been dominant when healthy. He's averaging 26.8 points and 11.9 rebounds per contest; his 30.3 player efficiency rating is the fourth-best in the Association.
