New York Sports-Kings:
Imagine being the 12th man on an NBA roster. You live for the garbage time in blow out games and if you work hard in practice, you may climb up the depth chart.
Many are grateful for the opportunity, but long for their shining moment to prove that they belong in the league.
James White’s shining moment will be tonight.
The man they call “Flight” will represent the Knicks in tonight’s Slam Dunk Contest in Houston. Many do not know who James White is and tonight will be the night that he makes a name for himself.
The nickname “Flight” is well deserved as White has competed in multiple dunk contests in the past. At only 28 years old, he has competed in these contests in high school, college, the D-League and overseas. He has finished second in two of them and won the 2008 Beko All-star Slam Dunk Contest in Turkey.
If you are doubting or unsure of White’s dunking skills, take a look at this video of him in that 2008 dunk contest overseas (If you are pressed for time, fast forward to the 4:45 mark of this video for the most impressive dunk you will ever see).
James White’s Impressive Dunk Contest in Turkey
If White hasn’t used up his entire arsenal of dunks in his multiple dunk contests, his experience will give him an advantage over the other competitors. White’s ability to convert long distance dunks as well as his incredible jumping ability will be the reason why he will win tonight’s contest.
If Steve Novak fails to appease the New York fan base in tonight’s 3-point contest, expect White to do so as a way to cap off the night.
And if White does that, he will finally get that shining moment that he has been waiting for. The spotlight is on you James, what will you do with it?

Woody says he expects Wallace to play no more than 9-10 minutes once he returns. “He’ll never be 100 percent,” he said.

From my eyes, the New York Knicks are positioning themselves to make a move in the next 2 weeks. When the All-Star break is over and teams report back to their practice facilities, the New York Knicks will...
According to Sheridan Hoops, The camp of Iman Shumpert has grown frustrated the way Iman has been developed in the Knicks rotation since his return from injury. I hope all this is not true and Iman is a happy camper in the Orange an Blue. If you read this article from Sheridan Hoops, it sounds as if the Knicks are not using him the proper way and Iman and his handlers are not happy...
Though the Knicks lost three out of their last four contests heading into NBA All-Star Weekend, there's no denying that as they hold the second best record in the Eastern Conference, New York displays more promise than they have in quite some time.An elevated team effort and more overall success often translates to greater representation throughout all the festivities and competitions...
Carmelo Anthony and Diddy hosted a party the Ayva Center in Houston Saturday with Chris Brown, Sean Kingston and more coming out to enjoy the night.
Sometimes, stupid is as stupid does…
Stephon Marbury proves that theory correct. The ex-NBA star evidently didn’t understand that if you can read it and sign it, it’s a binding contract.
Marbury promised his then chef Thurayyah Mitchell and jump off $900,000 dollars to keep their affair private. Mitchell had the agreement in writing, and filed a lawsuit against Marbury after...
After suffering from a bruise in his right arm just a few days ago, Carmelo Anthony's status on whether or not he would be able to participate in the All-Star Game was uncertain. However, Frank Isola of the New York Daily News tweeted that he would indeed be able to play, which resulted in a collective sigh of relief for both Knicks fans, Carmelo fans and those rooting for the...
With the All-Star break shortly coming to an end, I’m taking a look at each player on the roster and will evaluate their production thus far into the season. The Knicks started out the season as one of the few surprise teams in the league, once leading all of the Eastern Conference before coming back down to earth. They are currently the number two seed in...
Imagine if Steve Novak was in that State Farm commercial with Aaron Rogers talking to a classroom of students. One of the kids could tell him he should have “double checked” the defender with a pump fake and then shoot to avoid from being blocked.
“Is that a question?” Novak could ask.
“No, just an observation,” replies the student with a smile.
Novak may “Discount...
We know about most of the participants in this year’s dunk contest. Just kidding. In the past few years, the dunk contest has been filled with up and comers and bench warmers. So allow me to reintroduce themselves. Jeremy Evans is that nobody that won last year. I don’t think too many people even remember that he won last year. Go ahead. Ask one of your boys who won the NBA dunk...
Just five weeks ago, Carmelo Anthony hated Kevin Garnett. We all know the story; Anthony and Garnett were going at it in a tightly contested game back on Jan. 8. It got chippy and the two started jawing and before long, Garnett went below the belt like he normally does and allegedly said that Anthony’s wife “tastes like Honey Nut Cheerios.”
Now I’m not married but if...
It seems the issues between Kevin Garnett and Carmelo Anthony have been resolved.
The two Eastern Conference All-Stars teamed up to make fun of TNT announcer Craig Sager‘s turquoise suit. Sager asked Anthony about the spat between the Knick and Celtic at practice, and Anthony pulled Garnett over to help him answer the question.
“Honey Nut Cheerios” were not mentioned, but Garnett...
The New York Knicks-Brooklyn Nets rivalry is about to get a whole lot more interesting. Both teams have put in bids for the 2015 All-Star Game, and because of their arena situations – MSG recently being renovated and the brand new Barclays Center – NBA deputy commissioner, Adam Silver says it’s “likely” it will be in one of the two boroughs. The Knicks last hosted an All...
Kevin Garnett and Carmelo Anthony have seem to resolve the little spat they had earlier in the year, and have since united for a greater cause: clowning Craig Sager’s awful suit.
Nice to see the two getting along again, and gotta love the comeback Sager threw back at KG.
All turquoise errthing
Honey Nut Cheerios took on a whole new meaning this year after an on court altercation between Knicks Carmelo Anthony and Celtics Kevin Garnett continued into the locker room and halls of Madison Square Garden. Melo said he and KG spoke on the phone a short time after and squashed the beef but the question lingered, are they really “cool.”
Apparently so, the two are teammates...
