James Worthy, who announced his new role as the Los Angeles Lakers main studio analyst on Time Warner Cable SportsNet, says, "I wasn't a fan of Dwight Howard."

Worthy says he likes players who just do their job, and didn't like how Howard handled the situation in Orlando.

"Who said this, I don't like this coach. To me, that's nonsense," Worthy said via the LA Times. "Your job is to come in and play and deal with the situation that's there."

Worthy welcomes Howard to the team, but says he wasn't happy when Howard initally resisted joining the Lakers.

"I was a little bit taken back. I think I heard him say ... if the Lakers drafted him, he wouldn't take it," Worthy said. "I knew that was gibberish."

Worthy thinks Howard will adjust and could work great alongside Kobe Bryant, but wants him to know that,  "we already have one superman in this town."

Worthy may be unsure about Howard, but he is not unsure about Steve Nash.

"I think my favorite move of the summer was professor Steve Nash," he said. "We haven't had a point guard like that since Magic Johnson."

"The key is gonna be if Kobe can defer to Steve Nash and let him run the show."

Worthy says the Lakers chances of winning a championship this season depend on how well Howard, Nash and Bryant work together.

Lakers have bad news about Howard

The Lakers say center Dwight Howard won't finish his rehabilitation from back surgery in time for the start of training camp or Los Angeles' first preseason game. The Lakers gave an update on the newly acquired center's condition on their website Thursday night. Howard recently began working with the Lakers' training staff on his recovery from spinal surgery in...

Dwight Howard Still Not Expected to Be Ready for Start of Lakers Camp

Dwight Howard still is not expected to be ready for the start of training camp. And, well, that is all. Howard, who joined the Lakers as part of a four-team trade last month, is rehabbing from surgery in April to address a herniated disk. At the time of the trade, it was reported that Howard would miss the start of the 2012-13 season. Since training camp happens before the season...

The Assist: young Kobe Bryant with his father, Joe “Jellybean” Bryant

Since taking over his Facebook page, Kobe Bryant has provided a glimpse into the softer side of the “Black Mamba.” This photo he posted has to be one of my favorites! It’s a young Kobe seated next to his dad, Joe “Jellybean” Bryant. He even had a fro!

Lakers' Howard has no regrets about Orlando events

Dwight Howard, who was traded from the Orlando Magic to the Los Angeles Lakers this summer, said he doesn't have any regrets about the series of events that occurred during the past year. "I think everything happened the way that it was meant to happen," Howard said in interview that aired Sunday on ESPN. "I really just wish some of the lies and some of the things...

James Worthy not on board with Dwight Howard, yet

Since it has been a little awhile, let’s check-in with a former Los Angeles Lakers star for their take on newly acquired center, Dwight Howard. James Worthy, one of the Showtime Lakers, had some harsh words for Dwight during a conference call on Thursday. ‘Big Game James’ wasn’t on board with the trade with the [...]

Howard has 1st practice with Lakers

Dwight Howard participated in his first practice with the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday, going through a lengthy workout with no apparent concerns about his surgically repaired back. Howard worked out with the Lakers' new starting five during much of the afternoon practice at the Lakers' training complex, running offensive drills with Steve Nash and playing a little 1-on...

Lakers confirm Dwight Howard won’t be ready for training camp or start of preseason

I’ve been voicing the same concern regarding Dwight Howard- whether it was Dwight with the Lakers or elsewhere – what’s up with his back? As expected, the Lakers had an evaluation of Howard at their facilities this week and confirmed that he will miss both training camp and preseason. But this shouldn’t be cause for [...]

Howard: 'I Never Wanted Anybody To Hate Me'

Dwight Howard described the events surrounding his trade from the Magic.

Orlando Magic set bar for going low

We all knew the Orlando Magic would never receive a favorable return for Dwight Howard. OK, maybe we didnt know for certain -- but that sure seemed to be the chatter among opposing NBA front-office types. The longer the Magic held onto Howard, it was widely assumed, the less talent they would obtain. And not just because the Magics new GM is barely older than the water boy. Instead...
