NBA Injury News:
Utah Jazz forward Marvin Williams has elected to undergo surgery to repair his sore right heel/Achilles tendon, the team has announced. The procedure will be conducted tomorrow in Charlotte by Dr. Robert Anderson and is expected to sideline Williams for six months. The operation will put Williams out until at least some time in December, meaning he’ll miss the start of the 2013-14 regular season. While Williams’ totals for the Jazz last season weren’t overly inspiring, the team does have two big men – Al Jefferson and Paul Millsaps – that are unrestricted free agents this summer. The Jazz acquired Williams from the Atlanta Hawks last July in exchange for guard Devin Harris. He has a $7.5 million player option for the 2013-14 season that he’s likely to exercise.Williams appeared in 73 games for the Jazz last season – including 51 starts – averaging 7.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.1 assists over 23.7 minutes per game. Since being selected second overall in the 2005 NBA Draft, the 26-year-old has averaged 11.0 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game.Follow @hoopsinjurynews
