MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- The Memphis Grizzlies' ramped up defensive pressure has led to some impressive wins. Memphis held Milwaukee to a season-low in points and Tony Allen locked down Bucks leading-scorer Monta Ellis to help the Grizzlies win 90-80 Wednesday night. Ellis, who entered the game averaging 19 points a game, missed his first 13 shots with Allen on him, and didn't score a field goal until 2:30 was left in the game. He ended the night with four points. "I'm aware he's not hitting any on me. I'm aware of that," Allen said when asked if he realized Ellis was struggling. "He's a talented scorer. He'll jump out of that slump before you know it." Memphis coach Lionel Hollins simply said: "Tony Allen's defense on Monta Ellis was outstanding." Zach Randolph had 15 points and 17 rebounds, Marc Gasol added 12 points and 12 rebounds for Memphis, which entered the game allowing a league-low 90 points a game. Rudy Gay ...

POTD 12/17/12: Zach Randolph on Joakim Noah

Zach Randolph is a 6’9″ power forward who almost never dunks, so each and every time he does dunk it’s something of an event.  Twitter gets excited, message board topics are made, and videos are uploaded to YouTube.  When Zach Randolph dunks on somebody?  Prior to Monday night, I can’t honestly say I’d ever even seen Z-Bo throw down over a defender.  Ladies and gentlemen...

Bucks aim to keep rolling, versus Grizzlies

It was a good thing the Memphis Grizzlies were able to prove why they're statistically the NBA's best defensive team their last time out given their shooting woes. Memphis hopes for a much better offensive performance as it looks to beat the visiting Milwaukee Bucks for the fifth straight time Wednesday night. The Grizzlies (16-6) have bounced back from a season-worst three...

Grizzlies' defense again tough as Bucks fall

MEMPHIS -- It was just last Sunday that Memphis Grizzlies coach Lionel Hollins was so disgusted with team's defense in the first half at Utah that he quickly exited the locker room after a brief halftime tongue lashing. "Every coach is going to do that two or three times during an 82-game season," Hollins said. "Just walk out." The Grizzlies got the message...

Grizzlies 90, Bucks 80

MEMPHIS -- The Memphis Grizzlies haven't exactly been scintillating on offense lately. But they sure know how to play defense. The Grizzlies have held their past two opponents to fewer than 20 points in five of eight quarters, and they did enough Wednesday night to beat the Milwaukee Bucks 90-80 at FedExForum. Despite Memphis shooting just 40.9 percent from the field, including...

Jennings helps Bucks beat Pacers

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Mike Dunleavy missed the previous seven games because of a bruised left knee. The way he played Tuesday night, it was hard to tell. Dunleavy scored 17 points off the bench, including grabbing a key rebound and scoring on a putback after missing a 3-pointer with 1:35 left, to help the Milwaukee Bucks hold off the Indiana Pacers 98-93. "It was nice to have...

Defensive-minded Grizzlies shut down Bulls

MEMPHIS -- On a night when the Memphis Grizzlies didn't have their top offensive form, they still had enough to pull out a victory. It didn't matter that the Grizzlies (16-6) shot just...

Pacers fall to Bucks again

Milwaukee is simply one of those teams the Pacers don't match up well against, primarily because of the quickness of their guards, Brandon Jennings and Monta Ellis. As expected, the dynamic backcourt duo gave the Pacers all sorts of problems and combined for 55 points, with Jennings' 34 leading the way in their 98-93 win, their second of the season against Indiana. ...

Tied at 85-85 with 4:31 left, Jennings made a 16-footer from the corner to put Milwaukee up, 87-85. After Larry Sanders blocked David West, George Hill fouled Jennings on a missed...
