Jerry West has been there since the start of Kobe Bryant’s career. That’s why people always listen up when he has something to say about the Black Mamba. West was a guest on ESPN radio earlier this week. While on the air, he discussed a number of topics, including this year’s NBA Draft. West also touched on the state of the Lakers and Kobe’s future. While The Logo doesn’t anticipate Bryant being the same kind of player next year, he does count on the five-time NBA champion to be a difference maker. “You never know what Kobe Bryant’s status is going to be next year,” West said. “What kind of player is he going to be? That would be my biggest question because they’ve banked that he’s gonna be the same kind of player. I don’t see that. I do see him being great. He’s so good individually and he’s so competitive that he’s always going to be effective.” Bryant will be 36-years-old by the start of next season, so it’s not all that far-fetched to think that Kobe’s best days are behind him. However, that doesn’t mean that the NBA’s fourth all-time leading scorer still can’t be one of the best players in the league. Kobe’s fundamentals and basketball smarts alone will enable him to be an effective player in the Association. Even if he loses a great deal of his athleticism, Bryant will still be a problem for the opposition on a nightly basis. .bottom-of-post-responsive { width: 300px; height: 250px; } @media(min-width: 500px) { .bottom-of-post-responsive { width: 300px; height: 250px; } } @media(min-width: 800px) { .bottom-of-post-responsive { width: 336px; height: 280px; } } The post Jerry West doubts Kobe Bryant will return to former level of play appeared first on

PHOTO: Kobe Bryant pays tribute to Allen Iverson

Real recognize real. On Saturday night, Allen Iverson had his jersey retired by the Philadelphia 76ers. Seeing as The Answer is only three years older than the Black Mamba, it seems that the occasion was somewhat a moment of reflection for Kobe Bryant, who posted a tribute to the player many consider one of the greatest “pound for pound” basketball players of all-time. “Time...

Kobe Bryant's classy tribute to Allen Iverson over Instagram

Kobe Bryant is routinely booed whenever he returns to Philadelphia. Kobe Bryant praises Allen Iverson after retirement ceremony

It seems like quite a while ago that Los Angeles Lakers icon Kobe Bryant was battling Philadelphia 76ers legend Allen Iverson. The two didn’t match up often given Bryant was a shooting guard and Iverson guarded opposing points (at least generally), but every so often the two would find themselves in a mismatch and it was nothing short of must-see-television. The 76ers retired...

Jerry West not impressed with this year’s draft class

This year’s draft class is thought to be one of the deepest in years, with many analysts raving over the number of talented prospects that could be available on the night. Even Mitch Kupchak has championed the 2014 draft class, saying it’s the best he’s seen one-through-ten “in a long time.” However, one legendary former Lakers player turned general manager isn’t so high...

Via Sean Deveney of the Sporting News:Exum has acknowledged that he is a fan of Kobe Bryant, and signed with agent Rob Pelinka, who also represents Bryant. Image: Ugh, another sleeved jersey from adidas? It appears that the Los Angeles Lakers will be wearing sleeves again next month when they take part in the league’s annual “Noche Latina” night. The jerseys are usually pretty cool. In the past, they have been regular jerseys except for an additional patch and “Los” being placed before “Lakers.” However, this year...
