Photo Courtesy ~ Joe Glorioso/CSNWashington.com Riding on the success of a 3-game win streak, you would think the Wizards have enough momentum going into a 4-game road trip. Well, after some delightful news coming from the NBA today, you may want to think again. As WaPo's Michael Lee reported, John Wall earned a bit of a boost this afternoon when he was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week, capping what has been a marvelous stretch of basketball for the uber-talented, yet uber-criticized point guard.  In his last four games, Wall has averaged 24 points and 11 assists, with just over five rebounds to go with 2.5 steals. This was Wall's first award of this type in his short three-year career. It was also the first time in five years that a Wizards player has earned Player of the Week honors, the last one being Antawn Jamison in March of 2008. The competition that Wall beat out for this week's award was quite prestigious as well, with Lebron James, Dwyane Wade, and Al Horford being the other nominees. Wall has been one to respond to publicity. Early last month, NBA agent David Falk criticized Wall, claiming that he will never amount to a franchise player. Wall responded with a brilliant outing versus the 76ers in Philadelphia with Falk in attendance, hitting a clutch jump shot in the final seconds to seal a victory for the Wizards. Wall is currently in the midst of an offensive surge where he has not only been wondrously running the Wizards offense, but he has been money with his jump shot, shooting over 60 percent from the floor, including five 3-pointers in his last five games. So, here's to John Wall, the future of this franchise and the face of D.C. basketball!
