Knicks swingman JR Smith will decline his $2.9 million player option and become an unrestricted free agent, sources are reporting. The decision is not unexpected, as his career year will fetch him a lot more money on the open market, though it’s still assumed he’ll opt to go back to New York. JR loves New York – with the nightclubs and Rihanna, and the food and the women, and the energy and then, oh yeah, playing basketball. It’s his 5th favorite thing about playing for the Knicks. 6th if you count that movie Cloverfield. JR’s a true pro.

Chicago is going to be better with Derrick Rose returning from injury. Miami...
It was the summer of 2001, and the Nets had just finished another awful season in the swamps of Jersey. They had finished 31-51, and Rod Thorn was brought in to fix the troubled franchise.
