If you’ll recall we, amongst another billion or so people, posted the video of Blake Griffin making Kendrick Perkins look like Greg Ostertag. Some harped on whether it qualified to be a dunk or not, that besides the point, it was a great display of how much of a freak athlete Blake Griffin is. And for Kendrick Perkins, many pushed it to be an insult to his being to allow that to happen (it shouldn’t be, but more on that in a minute).

Where does Senor Bron Bron come into play? Well, he thought the dunk was amazing, and let it be known on his Twitter:

“Dunk of the Year! @blakegriffin just dunked on Kendrick Perkins so hard!!! Wow! I guess I’m No. 2 now. Move over #6,”

OF COURSE he couldn’t leave himself out of the picture. It wouldn’t be LeBronish not to. For those who don’t know “the King” had himself a pretty fancy dunk that night too, so that’s what he’s referring to when he says “No. 2″, probably predicting that night’s SportsCenter top ten. Kendrick Perkins took issue with this tweet and let his feelings be known to Yahoo Sports:

“You don’t see Kobe (Bryant) tweeting. You don’t see Michael Jordan tweeting. If you’re an elite player, plays like that don’t excite you…At the end of the day, the guys who are playing for the right reasons who are trying to win championships are not worrying about one play. They also are not tweeting about themselves talking about going down to No. 2. I just feel [James] is always looking for attention and he wants the world to like him.”

BOOM. ROASTED.

Listen, what happened to Perkins that night was unfortunate, but as the Yahoo report goes on to point out, the guy should be praised for attempting to stop that assault. Many players would rotate, stand there, and let Blake Griffin glide to the basket uncontested. Kendrick Perkins wouldn’t. As bad as the video looked, he’s a guy who puts everything on the line to try and make his team better. You can’t jump on him for that.

As for LeBron, I don’t doubt his heart. He plays hard, but tweets like that just show how much of a self serving idiot the guy can be. Way to call him out Perk.

Kendrick Perkins reacts to LeBron's tweets

I'm absolutely shocked that I could find a picture of Perkins smiling. Luckily...

Blame LeBron I swear LeBron makes it too easy for me nowadays. Once again, King James is in the media for mouthing off, as usual.
