By now you’ve seen Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin’s dunk over Oklahama City Thunder center Kendrick Perkins. If not, well, welcome back to earth, we’ll show you the video again in a second.

Perkins’ teammate Kevin Durant, who’s easily one of the best players in the league, wasn’t too impressed with Griffin’s effort. And that makes him probably the only one.

“I have no appreciation for it at all,” said Durant. “It was a layup, I think. He threw the ball in and got fouled and made his free throw, so it was three points at the end of the day, no matter how it happened, how it went in the basket. I really wasn’t impressed. He finished it. So what? We’ve moved on.”

First of all, Kevin’s probably a little salty the Clippers beat his team on Sunday. Second of all, yeah, he has something of a point (although he doesn’t make it very well).

If there’s any argument that Griffin’s poster job was a legitimate dunk, Durant hit it on the head. Normally, you grab the rim on a dunk. Griffin more or less threw the ball through the basket and a couple of his fingers scraped the rim. Certainly he was trying to dunk it. If Perkins hadn’t stepped up he would have dunked it. But does throwing the ball through the rim really equal a dunk?

We’re not debating whether the play was awesome — it was. We’re not calling it a layup like Durant — that’s idiotic. We’re not questioning the athletic ability that was on display — amazing! We’re just saying, was that really a dunk?

It’s debatable.
