No question the Los Angeles Lakers have made the most news of any team in the off season. After the NBA Finals Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder were still the clear favorites to get back to the NBA Finals . However now the Lakers have traded for Steve Nash and Dwight Howard and only shipped Andrew Bynum out. So what does Durant think of the new looked Lakers? Here is what he told Marc Spears of Yahoo Sports. People outside, fans, media, of course they are going to say [the Lakers are the favorites] because on paper they have the best lineup in the league. But you still got to play the games. We respect everybody. We are going to go through the league respecting everybody as well… “It was a great move for [the Lakers],” Durant said. “[Howard] is the most dominant center in the league. It’s going to make it tough on other teams. But I like that challenge. We all like that challenge in OKC. It should be fun.” I still think the Thunder have the best team in the We...

Few would disagree with the OKC superstar, who spoke candidly about the challenges his team faces next season in their quest to get back to the NBA Finals.

Schedule Favors Los Angeles Lakers in 2012-2013

Coming off of a 2011-2012 season that was shortened by a lockout, the Los Angeles Lakers have a much more manageable schedule this season. The regular season consisted of 66 games packed into five months of basketball, with the Lakers playing 18 back-to-back games and one back-to-back-to-back. This upcoming season, the Lakers will have 16 games without a day off, one more than...

5 Reasons Why the Los Angeles Lakers are the Favorite in the Western Conference Over the Oklahoma City Thunder

The Los Angeles Lakers have been busy this off-season. With big name acquisitions, like Dwight Howard and Steve Nash, the Lakers are now the favorites in the Western Conference for five reasons: 1.      Defense Lakers head coach Mike Brown is excited his new starting 5 happens to be the best center in the NBA. Not because of the measly 20.6 PPG Howard averaged last season...

Lakers Rumors: Lakers’ Kobe Bryant Settles Court Case That Happened 7 Years Ago

Sitting court side at an NBA game is great and all until somebody gets injured. Sounds like something you would rarely see, but in 2005 a fan sitting court side for a Lakers vs. Grizzlies game got in the way of Kobe Bryant as he lunged into the stands attempting to save the ball. Bill Geeslin, the [...] [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other...

Kobe Bryant Pays Dead Man

In 2005 Kobe ran into a Memphis fan while chasing a ball out of bounds. The man, Bill Geeslin, was an insurance agent and sued Bryant for $75,000. “I recall a fast-paced incident seeing him come to me, running into me and then forearming me…..He intentionally forearmed me in the chest. He did not apologize. He walked away and pushed…..he kind of pushed his arm toward me and...

Kevin Durant isn't waiting around for his time

Kevin Durant vs. LeBron James is shaping up to be one of the greater basketball rivalries of all time. While James currently has the upper hand, winning last season’s MVP and the NBA Finals against Durant’s Oklahoma City Thunder, it is still a close gap. Durant won the scoring title for the third year in a row and stole the show at the Olympics in London this summer. Even...

Los Angeles Lakers to Honor Actor from Airplane with a Statue

The Los Angeles Lakers have gone fully Hollywood; the Los Angeles Times is reporting that during the upcoming NBA season the team will unveil a statue depicting one of the stars of the hit slapstick comedy Airplane. Usually when teams erect statues outside their stadiums they do so to honor a former player, the Lakers have chosen instead to memorialize the work of the man who played...

Orlando Sentinel writer attempts to make the case for Kevin Durant signing with the Magic in 2016

As we make our way through Orlando Sentinel’s Brian Schmitz’s thought process on this, let’s keep a few things in mind. First, he’s a writer in a city that just watched their franchise center drag them through the mud before heading off to Los Angeles. And second, he’s a writer in a city that watched their franchise center drag them through the mud in 1996 before heading...

Former NBA Players Calls Out Dwight Howard

Former NBA player Charles Oakley was the definition of a tough player.  He was so tough that Michael Jordan trusted him to protect him from the rough style of basketball from the 1980′s.  These days, those types of players are hard to come by.  The league has become soft with all their rules to “speed up” the game.  Nowadays, players have the power to dictate the team...

Charles Oakley thinks Dwight Howard should’ve been treated like a spoiled child having a temper tantrum

Charles Oakley is not impressed with Dwight Howard’s antics – who was – but the legendary former Knicks star thinks the Orlando Magic should’ve dealt with Dwight like you do a toddler who has a temper tantrum, put him in timeout. “A lot of guys cry in this league these days. I try not to [...]

Steve Nash vs. Jason Kidd: Who’s better?

I can vividly remember playing pickup basketball as a kid. I was horrible back then. I had no athletic ability; I couldn’t jump, run or shoot.  The best attribute of my game was passing simply because I had no other options.  I can remember listening to guys shoot the ball, yelling “Kobe” as the ball goes through the net.  I used to wish that I had that ability.  I practiced...

Dwight Howard, Pau Gasol, Steve Nash and Kobe Bryant will make the new-look Los Angeles Lakers a heavy favorite to not only win the Western Conference but the NBA crown as well. However, being overlooked are the defending West champs - Oklahoma City Thunder. The Thunder have remained in tact, re-signed Serge Ibaka, and after a long march in the playoffs last season, they...
