Normally I'd break down the game, and what went right, wrong etc, etc etc. Who cares? Tonight was about the end of an era, and barring a really stupid decision by the Board of Governors in New York a couple of weeks from now, perhaps the last game ever in Sacramento. You know what? I don't care. There was the game and here is the boxscore. Have fun with it. The fans. That's what I'll take away from this game. And the irony of Jamal Crawford sending the Kings to their doom (Crawford is from Seattle) on a night where he got crackerjack hot and there was nothing to be done. It happens. I'll remember the repeated chants of Sac-Ra-Men-To. I'll remember the fans staying in the arena for an hour plus after the game ended making it chaotic for the staff to escort them out of Sleep Train Arena. I'll remember hoping all game the Kings could win knowing they'd probably find a way to lose, and that two weeks from now it won't make a single shred of difference to me one way or the other. I'll remember...no **** him. He isn't worth the time. I'll remember the fans, this team, the good, the bad, and those memories are mine. As the Seattle Times infamously printed after the Sonics officially were leaving for Oklahoma City, "They took our team but they can't take our memories." You're damn right. Our memories. Our Town. Our team. We let it all out. I'm proud of what the fans, the one's actually out there and doing work, did for me and many others who were not capable of doing a whole lot of anything. I'm proud of Carmichael Dave who set a month of his life aside to tour the country in a ridiculously amazing RV. Oh, and shake Vivek Ranadive's hand. The bastard. But, still, I'm proud of the man for what he's done and tried to do. He's spread the gospel and word of Sacramento. That matters. That really, really, really matters. We've been run through the ringer the last half decade or so with the Maloofs as owners. They don't deserve us; not the other way around. Whether that story gets told, I don't know. However those in Seattle frame it is irrelevant, almost all of them are too ignorant to really offer anything of value anyway. So why listen to them? As I write this, the game is over for 75 minutes. And there are fans chanting in the parking lot. Still. Our Town. Our Team. This is Sacramento. We are Kings fans. We are the best fans in the world. After all, who else would tolerate the Maloofs? Bittersweet. That's all I got left. Bittersweetness to the nth degree. But not for my fellow fans who have stuck it out to the bitter end. The knowledge that this could all end tonight is too much for me to swallow. Even if I don't want to believe the Kings won't really stay, part of me knows that anything can still happen because until the decision is really announced, these things remain more fluid than the NbA would ever like to admit. I think Seattle gets the expansion team, and the Kings stay in Sac. I hope I'm right. I fear I'm not. Sigh. Such is the lot of being a Kings fan. #Sac-Ra-Men-To!!!!!!
