NEW YORK -- Carmelo Anthony had hurt the Atlanta Hawks from 3-point range all game, but he finished them off with a driving layup in the final seconds. Anthony drove for the game-winning basket, then hit a free throw to convert a three-point play as the Knicks squeezed out a 106-104 win over the Atlanta Hawks at Madison Square Garden on Sunday night. Anthony drove around Josh Smith to hit a layup and then converted a free throw for a three-point play to give the Knicks a 106-104 lead with 12.5 seconds left. Smith's attempt at a game-winning 3-pointer then bounced off the rim just before time expired.
