New York Knicks' Carmelo Anthony told reporters after a blowout loss to his former team the Denver Nuggets yesterday that he would be getting his knee drained. The procedure was completed today, and his status for Sunday is questionable according to a tweet by the Knicks PR Twitter account.Carmelo Anthony had a soft tissue fluid collection of his posterior right knee aspirated today in NY. He is questionable for Sunday at LA.— NY_KnicksPR (@NY_KnicksPR) March 14, 2013The procedure should speed up Carmelo's return to action but considering their positioning for the playoffs, there is little need to risk further injuring Carmelo. The Knicks will only go as far as he can carry them and he will be relied on immensely come the NBA playoffs, only around 20 games away. For the season, Anthony is averaging 27.5 points on 43.6% shooting and 37.5% from beyond the arc. He, along with the team, seems to have cooled down after an impressive start to the season. For a while, Carmelo's been in MVP talks considering the team's record and his influence on the court. Nuggets Coach George Karl Thinks Denver Should Retire Carmelo Anthony’s Jersey Some Day

Carmelo Anthony does not have many people in his corner in Denver anymore. The franchise has moved on with a younger and cheaper roster that is still winning games at a playoff-caliber pace. Every player except Ty Lawson has moved on since Anthony’s departure in 2011. Fans have clearly moved on as well. The former Nuggets superstar is expected to be booed vehemently when he makes...

Carmelo Anthony Says Return to Denver Will Not Be Emotional, Expects to Play Despite Knee Injury

When Dwight Howard took the court in Orlando for the first time as a Magic opponent on Tuesday night, he admitted that he would always have a soft spot in his heart for his former fans in Florida. Carmelo Anthony does not sound quite as nostalgic as he prepares to make his first visit to Denver as a member of the Knicks. When Anthony returns to the Mile High City to face his old...

Carmelo To Have Right Knee Drained

Carmelo Anthony will return to New York to have his right knee drained.

Carmelo doesn’t think return to Denver will be emotional

Carmelo Anthony, now in his third season with the New York Knicks, is finally making the trip back to Denver to face the team who drafted him. Melo was dealt to the Knicks in 2011 for Danilo Gallinari, Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton and other pieces. Since the trade that shaped both teams for what seems to be the better, Carmelo has still to play a game in Denver against the Nuggets...

Knicks in Mile High to Face the Nuggets

By, Kenneth Teape – Knickswag Contributor Pre-Game News and Notes Knicks vs. Nuggets: ESPN, MSG 10:30PM The Knicks will look to bounce back from their ugly game in Golden State Monday night tonight in Denver.  It will be the second of a five game road trip and arguably the hardest game in the stretch, as the Nuggets have the best home record in the NBA at 28-3.  This is will...

Nuggets 117, Knicks 94

Carmelo Anthony's return to the Pepsi Center was a flop Wednesday night when Wilson Chandler scored 24 points and the Denver Nuggets blew out the ailing New York Knicks 117-94. The Nuggets led by as many as 34 points on the way to winning their 10th straight game and 14th straight at home. This one was such a laugher that their starters didn't play the fourth quarter. ...

New York Knicks: Mike Woodson Must Be More Careful With Carmelo Anthony

By Mike Elworth: Publisher and Editor of HoopStuff Carmelo Anthony came back Monday night against the Warriors, after missing three games with a knee injury. He might as well have stayed in a suit, as they lost the game by 29 points, in a pathetic  92-63 shellacking by Stephen Curry and company. Anthony played 34 minutes and scored a modest 14 points, on 4-15 shooting and grabbed...

Can the Knicks fix their free fall?

Who remembers back to early December? The New York Knicks were 14-4 with two (not one, not three, not four) 20-point victories over the Miami Heat. I do not think anyone was crowning the Knicks the Eastern Conference champs at that point, but there was some hope that they could at least give the Heat a good run. Fast forward to today where the Knicks are still a respectable 38...

Anthony has been struggling with...

The Knicks are in serious trouble.  Amare Stoudemire is out for the rest of the regular season, Carmelo Anthony is back in New York getting his troublesome knee drained, and they've just dropped the first 3 of a 5 game west coast trip.  Boston is now only 3.5 games behind NY for the division lead.  At this point it looks as if the Nets (2.5 ahead of the Celtics) may actually...

How Long Can the Knicks Maintain 1st Place?

By, Charles R. Trimble III – Knickswag Contributor Sometimes it seems like the Knicks are a cursed franchised. Despite coming close, they have not won a championship in 40-years. Bernard King’s injury, numerous Game 7 heartbreaks, unfortunate suspensions and then to add insult to injury, having to witness former coach Pat Riley build a dynasty in Miami! Then you have the 2012...
