The New York Knicks had no trouble scoring the basketball in the opening quarter and without taking a look at the scoreboard, one would have assumed the Knicks were up by at least ten. The Knicks were in complete control and they were dictating the pace of the game.
However, the Pistons were not going away and were hanging around, waiting for a chance to reclaim the lead. Brandon Knight used his quickness to dissect the Knicks’ defense and his speed was essentially unstoppable.
At the end of the opening period, the Knicks had a mere 25-24 lead over the Detroit Pistons.
Once the second quarter began, the Knicks turned into a completely different team. For the first time in a long time, the Knicks played exceptional defense for an entire 12 minutes. Along with their stellar defense, the Knicks were knocking down their shots on offense. Whether is was a three-pointer or a shot near the hoop, the Knicks were making everything.
