Found July 01, 2013 on Knickswag:
By Aaron Kopperl With the 2013 NBA free agency period beginning, the New York Knicks are hoping to address their two most glaring issues, a backup guard and a backup big man.  The Knicks may have already found a valuable backup guard in the draft by selecting Tim Hardaway Jr., the son of a former Knick nemesis.  Although the Knicks also were able to sign undrafted free agency C.J. Leslie, you can never have too many useful big men on your team, especially come playoff time.  One player the Knicks should attempt to sign is Spurs PF Dejuan Blair. What Blair lacks in height and knee ligaments, he makes up for in hustle and aggression.  Weighing in at 270 pounds, Blair has proven to be a capable defender and rebounder.  However, with the emergence of Tiago Splitter, Blair lost his starting job and was relegated to the bench for a large portion of the 2013 playoffs.  Due to this lack of playing time, Blair would come at a relatively cheap price, which should leave the mini mid-level exception relatively unaffected. Another interesting option could be to use Chris Copeland as the trade chip.  If San Antonio happens to be one of the approximately 10 teams pursuing Cope, the Knicks should attempt to negotiate a sign-and-trade with the Spurs (or whichever team signs Copeland if not the Knicks) so as to avoid losing a proven scorer for nothing. Glen Grunwald stated at the start of the 2013 offseason that the Knicks would need to be creative in if they wish to improve.  Here is one move that is creative and certainly has the potential to help this team.  While it is definitely not as splashy as the New Jersey…err, uh, Brooklyn Nets’ recent trade, it would definitely fix a problem the Knicks had last season, a young backup big man. Knicks Free Agency Look In: Tony Mitchell (D-League)

Tony Mitchell will be on the Knicks summer league team this year out in Las Vegas. He was the star of the D-League this year and will most likely warrant much attention this summer. Does NY have the inside track? Standing at 6’6″, Tony has the size and bulk to be a productive SF in the league. The real question is, does Tony have the defensive quickness to stay with his opponents...

Quentin Richardson lastest recipient of 'Magic Envelope'

Quentin Richardson was born on the 13th (in April 1980), but nobody ever would say this 13-year veteran is unlucky. Richardson was waived by the Orlando Magic last fall but stood to collect the final two years and 5.4 million on his contract. And money for nothing again came the shooting guards way Monday. Richardson, 33, was the recipient of what one NBA executive calls the Magic...

Report: Knicks Targeting Elton Brand

The Knicks are in need of some size and rebounding in the front court, and may have found a likely target. ESPN New York is reporting that the Knicks are preparing to make an offer to Elton Brand.  The Knicks have reportedly targeted Brand since free agency began. Brand is most likely the best available big man at the price the Knicks are prepared to pay, and would bring some insurance...

Knicks And Raptors Close To Deal To Send Former Top Pick Bargnani To New York

The New York Knicks, are hoping that a change of scenery, may help the number one pick of the 2006 NBA Draft fulfill the potential the Toronto Raptors thought he possessed when they selected him. Kevin Martin Heads To TWolves

Free agent forward Kevin Martin is signing with the Timberwolves, sources say. The deal will be for 4 years and around $30 million, and leaves the Thunder with even less on their squad from the “Here’s James Harden for nothing!” decision. Que sera. By the way, there’s a 90% chance I thought this was Kenyon Martin when I first heard it. And then a 70% chance I thought it was...

Knicks Free Agency Look In: Cheap Power Forwards Who Can Help

Now that the draft is over the Knicks can focus on free agency. Here are some of the players that would interest me at a very affordable price. Dejuan Blair: Dejuan is my favorite of the bunch. He is still young at 24 years old. He has ton of experience in the playoffs under the tutelage of Gregg Popovich and the San Antonio Spurs. He has a career average of almost 8 points and 6...
