PLAYERS: Marcus Camby
TEAMS: New York Knicks
The New York Knicks signed Marcus Camby to have a veteran presence among a team that seemed to struggle to gel at times last season.  Camby played for the Rockets and the Trailblazers last season, but New York was able to acquire him in a sign and trade deal with Houston.  Unfortunately, Camby is already injured and will miss at least 7-10 days. According to Al Iannazzone of Newsday, Camby strained his left calf and will miss at least two preseason games.Marcus Camby had an MRI on his calf. He has a strained left calf and is out 7-10 days. That means he won't play first 2 preseason games— Al Iannazzone (@Al_Iannazzone) October 6, 2012Camby averaged 4.9 points per game last season combined between Portland and Houston.  In his 16-year career, Camby has averaged 9.7 points per game and 9.9 rebounds.  His defense and rebounding ability has always been Camby's major draw. The Knicks hope Camby can build team chemistry and help lead them back into the playoffs.  The Knicks made the playoffs last year, but they were still considered a disappointment by most after the team was bounced in the first round.  They went out and got Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire, but the team has yet to put the whole package together to make a deep run in the playoffs.  Camby, despite his age and injury history, could help the team come together.Follow @hoopsinjurynews
