The New York Knicks entered the first Battle of the Boroughs short-handed Monday, as guard Jason Kidd sat out the game against the Brooklyn Nets due to back spasms. Kidd, who missed a game for the first time this season, is listed as day-to-day. The guard's absence caused a lineup shuffle for the Nets. Carmelo Anthony moved to small forward, with Kurt Thomas starting at power forward. Ronnie Brewer started at shooting guard alongside point guard Raymond Felton. Through the Knicks' first 12 games, Kidd averaged 8 points, 3.4 assists and 3.3 rebounds. The 39-year-old veteran is in his first season with New York. Last season, he averaged 6.2 points, 5.5 assists and 4.1 rebounds with the Dallas Mavericks. Monday's game was the makeup of what would have been the Nets' first home game at the new Barclays Center. The scheduled Nov. 1 contest was postponed in the wake of Superstorm Sandy. According to Bloomberg News, tickets for the makeup game were selling for an average of $584, the third-highest price tag for an NBA game this season. The prices are monitored by TiqIQ.com, Bloomberg reported.
