MILWAUKEE -- Tyson Chandler told his New York Knicks teammates that Wednesday's game was "do or die." A loss to the Bucks would have put both teams at 29-29 and given the tiebreaker edge to Milwaukee for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. But the Knicks didn't disappoint Chandler in their effort, beating the Bucks, 111-107, and moving two games ahead of Milwaukee in the Eastern Conference standings. The attitudes in both teams' locker rooms told the story. The Bucks were quiet, heads were hanging low, and the realization of how difficult it will now be to make the playoffs was starting to set in. In the visiting locker room, the Knicks' mood was light. Carmelo Anthony was being photographed by Chandler while conducting interviews with reporters and Iman Shumpert continued to sing loudly, laughing as teammates began to give him some grief."It's fun," Anthony said. "I love these moments. This is where it gets fun. ...

Shumpert finishing his rookie season strong

Iman Shumpert is almost falling into the clichéd story of guys who were told they wouldn’t succeed and then showed up the world by proving them all wrong. I’m not going to say the New York Knicks rookie guard is a raving success, but he has done better than most people thought, and he’s definitely on his way. When he decided to forego his senior season at Georgia Tech and...

New York Knicks: Finding A Way In Big Spots

The New York Knicks can be infuriating to watch at times. This season has been a bizarre roller coaster of about five different teams, all of which are deeply flawed but unquestionably talented. The current version is entirely too reliant on Carmelo Anthony on the offensive end and is still prone to mind numbing lapses on defense despite having two candidates for first team All-Defense...

Carmelo Anthony looked especially dapper before Tuesday night’s Knicks game (pic)

Looking good, Carmelo Anthony. Looking good. It takes considerable fashion gravitas to pull of the multi-buttoned suit coat over the buttoned cardigan look without it appearing, well, too button-ey. Throw in the bow tie and Knicks-colored headphones and more often than not one would have the makings of an overly busy ensemble. But we’re talking [...]

Crunch time as Bucks look to be contenders

The Milwaukee Bucks have little room for error if they expect to remain in the playoff hunt. After missing an opportunity to better their playoff position, the Bucks look to avoid both a straight defeat overall and their fourth straight visit to Detroit on Friday night against the Pistons. Two nights after its four-game winning streak ended with a 109-89 loss to Oklahoma City at...

Carmelo Anthony to appear on Showtime’s ‘Nurse Jackie’

Knicks star Carmelo Anthony is coming to Showtime this weekend. The All-Star will be featured on ’Nurse Jackie’. The show stars Edie Falco as an emergency room nurse in a New York hospital who has a petulance for prescription drugs. Melo is playing a fallen pro hoops player whose a member of an eclectic group of [...]

Bucks frustrations led to five technicals

MILWAUKEE -- There were plenty of reasons for the Bucks to become frustrated during the course of their 20-point loss on Monday to the Oklahoma City Thunder. First, there was the one-sided score that had the Thunder already up by 17 points after just one quarter. Then there was the realization that the inevitable loss was going to significantly harm their playoff chances. Finally...

Anthony, Knicks open 2-game edge on Bucks

Carmelo Anthony had 32 points and 10 rebounds and J.R. Smith made a 3-pointer for the go-ahead score as the visiting New York Knicks edged the Milwaukee Bucks 111-107. The Knicks (30-28) took a two-game edge on the Bucks (28-30) for eighth in the Eastern Conference and also evened their season series at two games apiece. Tyson Chandler had 19 points and 11 rebounds for the Knicks...

Knicks earn critical win over Bucks

J.R. Smith hit a 3-pointer for the lead with 1:04 left, and the New York Knicks held on to beat the Milwaukee Bucks 111-107 on Wednesday night in a game that could turn out to be critical to both teams' playoff hopes. Carmelo Anthony had 32 points and 10 rebounds, while Tyson Chandler added 19 points for the Knicks, who took a two-game lead on Milwaukee for the No. 8 seed in...

Knicks Won't Keep Carmelo At Power Forward When Stoudemire Returns

Carmelo Anthony has thrived in his new role as power forward in the absence of Amar'e Stoudemire.

Bucks can boost playoff hopes with win vs. Knicks

The Milwaukee Bucks have nine games left to make a playoff push and perhaps none is more critical than Wednesday night's showdown with the New York Knicks. A 20-point loss to Oklahoma City on Monday was a setback for the Bucks, who are trying to chase down the Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers in the Eastern Conference standings. Beating the Knicks would be a huge boost to their...

Bucks rookies playing time scarce of late

MILWAUKEE -- Playing time has become scarce in recent weeks for the two Milwaukee Bucks rookies, Tobias Harris and Jon Leuer. That is the downfall of a team competing for a playoff spot that has several veteran players on the roster. While that makes it difficult for coach Scott Skiles to throw his youngest players into pressure-packed situations with a possible postseason berth...

Where’s Lester Hudson’s “Linsanity?”

On February 6, the shorthanded New York Knicks topped the Utah Jazz at home. The team’s two best players were inactive, dealing with various issues ranging from personal to health. The hero of the day — and subsequent weeks — was a hardwood vagabond, a scrappy guard who had been bounced from multiple NBA franchises, left to trudge through the murk and muck of the NBDL. Jeremy...
