Glen Grunwald had the interim tag removed from his title as New York Knicks vice president and general manager on Tuesday. But he was not ready to do the same for interim coach Mike Woodson. Not yet. "Right now," Grunwald said, "we just need to stay focused on the playoffs." Woodson's 17-6 record since he took over for Mike D'Antoni on March 14 certainly makes a strong case for him to be retained, but there remains a bigger test ahead in the postseason, where the Knicks haven't won a game in over a decade and a playoff series in 12 years. Grunwald's promotion by team owner James Dolan certainly didn't come as much of a surprise, especially after Grunwald's terrific job this season in building the roster around stars Carmelo Anthony and Amar'e Stoudemire. It started with the impressive move to use the amnesty clause to waive Chauncey Billups and create the salary cap space to sign free agent Tyson Chandler. Grunwald also picked u...

KNICK OF TIME
Mike Woodson has done an admirable job of turning the season around for the Knicks, and he hopes "to be the guy who's in charge running the show and finishing."
New York Knicks interim coach Mike Woodson was spotted having dinner Tuesday night just hours after Glen Grunwald got promoted as the permanent executive VP/GM sources told The New York Post.

Following the resignation of Mike D'Antoni, interim coach Mike Woodson has had a lot of pressure on him to help the New York Knicks succeed. D'Antoni's resignation was much about putting a new voice in place. The Knicks need someone who can get the most out of his players, eliciting such an effort that can bring them to that next level. With a 16-6 record thus far, Coach...
The cynical side of me thinks that of course Carmelo Anthony is going to say publicly that he loves Mike Woodson because he doesn't want to be labeled a coach killer after already getting one coach fired earlier this season. The more understanding, and less judgemental, side of me thinks that maybe Mike Woodson is just a better fit for this Knicks team moving forward though too...
ZEN MASTER COMETH?
In an attempt to lure Phil Jackson out of retirement, the Knicks reportedly could offer him a 4-year, $50 million dollar deal should the team not get out of the first round of the playoffs.
Yesterday, Carmelo’s approval for Mike Woodson getting the head coaching gig hit the blogosphere like a freight train. Then, the rumor of the week, perhaps even the month, hit the intrawebs: if the Knicks have another round one exit, the franchise may make a push — in a huge way — for legendary coach Phil [...]

Whether it was playoff gamesmanship or not, Knicks coach Mike Woodson said there was "a strong possibility" center Tyson Chandler could sit out Saturday's Game 1 vs. the Heat with the flu.
Chandler was back at the team's hotel with the flu and fever and missed Friday's practice ahead of the first-round playoff series. Chandler had already sat out Thursday night...
New York basketball is alive once again. Carmelo Anthony, Amar'e Stoudemire, and Tyson Chandler lead a Knicks squad that feels like they have something to prove. Under interim head coach Mike Woodson, the Knicks are 18-6, and playing inspired on both ends of the floor. After a dismal 18-24 start to the season, Mike D'Antoni was ousted and Woodson stepped in. New York is...
