Finally, for the first time in over five months, Kobe Bryant was able to take to the practice court today. At last, head coach Mike D’Antoni had the opportunity to see his star partake in some light jogging and shooting. He may have only been going onto his tiptoes while shooting set shots – which is a far cry from the baseline fadeaway jumper that we’ve all become so accustomed to Bryant using on a daily basis – and it may not change the NBA futures odds just yet, it’s progress nevertheless. According to Dave McMenamin of ESPN Los Angeles, “progression” is the word of the day for D’Antoni: Bryant didn’t practice with his teammates and the Lakers continue to avoid providing a timetable for their star guard’s return, but just seeing Bryant do some light jogging and set shooting was a sight for sore eyes for coach Mike D’Antoni. “He just keeps progressing,” D’Antoni said. “He was out today shooting a little bit and jogging. He just keeps getting better.” There is still plenty of rehab left for Bryant to do before he is back in full basketball mode, however. His shooting on Wednesday did not involve jumping, for example. “He’s going up on his tiptoes,” D’Antoni said. “I don’t think he was jumping, but it wasn’t flatfooted. It was set shooting.” “I saw him shoot the ball today for the first time,” D’Antoni said. “I don’t know if it’s the first time, but it’s the first time I saw him. So, that’s a progression. I’m not in the training room to see what he does every day. Obviously as hard as he’s worked, every day he’s going to get a little bit better. Now, what that means, I don’t know.” There is still not timetable for Kobe’s return – apart from Steve Nash‘s prediction; he thinks the Black Mamba will be back in the line-up by Thanksgiving – but this is surely a good sign. There’s no real rush for Kobe to return any time soon, and so his progression will likely be slow. After jogging and doing a little shooting today, the medical team will likely assess Bryant tomorrow to see how he reacts to the mini-workout, and then decide the best way to continue to continue with his rehab. Progression is important, but patience is vital. .bottom-of-post-responsive { width: 300px; height: 250px; } @media(min-width: 500px) { .bottom-of-post-responsive { width: 300px; height: 250px; } } @media(min-width: 800px) { .bottom-of-post-responsive { width: 336px; height: 280px; } }

Kobe Bryant left the country to have an undisclosed medical procedure, the Lakers said Thursday. VIDEO: Rick Fox interviews Kobe Bryant for NBA TV

They won three NBA championships together, so it’s no surprise that Kobe Bryant and Rick Fox have great chemistry together, even if it’s just for a five minute interview for NBA TV. CC video of the day: Kobe not certain when he will return to the court

It is safe to say the Lakers go as Kobe Bryant goes. But if L.A. wants to "go" anywhere this season, they will have to see Bryant on the court if they even want to sniff the postseason. And considering the West is loaded with power house teams such as the Spurs, Thunder, Warriros and possibly the Rockets, the Lakers will need Bryant to challenge in the West. With...

Michael Jordan said in an interview that made headlines Tuesday that he would beat LeBron James 1-on-1, but he’s not sure how he would do against Kobe Bryant because the Lakers legend stole all his moves. CC Tweet of the Day: Bryant hits back at Jordan

He may be several years removed from the NBA but Michael Jordan is still brimming with confidence. "Air" Jordan is still the gold standard when it comes to measuring the greatest player of all-time in the NBA. I do not think I have to go over his resume to prove that point but when asked about today's players, he just couldn't hold back and unleashed on who he...
