Fox Sports West:
Kobe Bryant missed his fifth consecutive game Sunday but hinted about his return from a sore left shin, telling ABC sideline reporter Heather Cox he would "definitely" play before the end of the regular season.
Bryant spoke briefly to Cox at the Lakers' game against the Dallas Mavericks about his shin, saying he would be back "well before playoffs."
The Lakers have five games left after Sunday and conclude the regular season April 26 against the Sacramento Kings. Bryant hadn't spoken to reporters in more than a week.
"It's feeling a lot better," Bryant said at Staples Center, adding he would be playing now if the postseason were under way.
Bryant, however, still hasn't started running, so his return might not come Tuesday against the San Antonio Spurs. The Lakers took him out of a walking boot a few days ago but would not let him return to action until he started running and then jumping without pain.
Bryant is suffering from tenosynovitis, a condition in which a tendon sheath becomes inflamed, causing soreness whenever the tendon slides in or out of the sheath.

The Lakers star attended the Kings-Canucks game with his wife and daughters, increasing speculation that the couple could possibly reconcile.
After they were seen in public together with their children at an L.A. Combine that appearance with the kiss they shared back in February after a Lakers game and it certainly appeared as though the two were well on their way to working out their...

That's a successful franchise for you.
And another impressive statistic has developed: The Lakers are 3-1 without Kobe Bryant this season.
The Los Angeles Lakers’ Kobe Bryant is arguably one of the greatest players of all time but as good as Kobe has been it makes you wonder;why does Kobe only have one MVP award on his resume? Well there are a lot of reasons really and many of them can be traced back to Michael Jordan. Kobe is a victim of the legacy that Jordan left. I mean you can’t fault Kobe for wanting to emulate...
On the day Kobe Bryant, an erstwhile iron horse, sat out his fourth consecutive game with an injured shin, Dwight Howard traveled across the country to have a specialist inform him that it is a bulging disc that has left his back aching and Derrick Rose, in and out of the lineup all season with injuries, awoke to the realization that the Bulls were better off with him on the bench...
