Los Angeles Lakers
LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Lakers' fantastic foursome finally had its coming out party. However, it came a few games late, and without a quarter of the star-power. With Steve Nash sidelined due to a non-displaced fracture in his left leg, the other half of the Lakers' offseason haul took over. Center Dwight Howard scored 28 points in Los Angeles' 108-79 win over the Detroit Pistons on Sunday night at Staples Center. The Lakers lost their first three games of the season before Sunday's runaway win. The Pistons fell to 0-3. Howard connected on 12 of 14 field-goal attempts -- but only four of nine free throws -- to go along with seven rebounds and three blocks. Howard led five Lakers in double figures, as a balanced effort helped dispose of the Pistons easily. Los Angeles jumped out to a 34-13 lead after the first quarter and never let Detroit back into the game. Metta World Peace added 18 points for the Lakers, and Kobe Bryant contributed 15 in Los Ange...

Los Angeles Lakers center Dwight Howard sounded off on the new All-Star Game ballot that eliminates the center designation. This season's change has fans voting for three frontcourt players, instead of two forwards and one center. "I don't like it at all," Howard told reporters. "We work just as hard as anybody else. I don't think it's fair to take...
The NBA is evolving to where the position of center is being phased out. This is not a knock on what big men are doing these days. On the contrary, it is actually a compliment to their hybrid skill sets that now include outside jumpers and more athletic moves to the basket, rather than just backing down a defender to get a short-range shot. However, there are a few post players...
Lakers point guard Steve Nash was diagnosed with a "small non-displaced fracture in the head of his fibula," according to a statement released by the team.
Nash underwent an MRI exam on his left leg, which was injured in Wednesday night's game against the Portland Trail Blazers.
Team doctor Steve Lombardo made the diagnosis, which will keep Nash out for at least a...
When Steve Nash first went down with injury, it was thought that he would only be out for a weke or so. It turns out that the problem may be a lot worse than initially feared, which could mean a much longer time on the sidelines for the guard.
The Los Angeles Lakers clearly look like they miss Steve Nash now after struggling against the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday night in their 105-95 loss, with Steve Blake being their point guard in that outing.
Nash has been out since having a leg injury in a loss to the Portland Trail Blazers earlier in the week. However, Lakers head coach Mike Brown says he isn’t...
It's been rocky start to the 2012-13 NBA season for the Los Angeles Lakers. The team has gone 1-3 to kickoff the season and have looked out of sorts early in the season. And though Dwight Howard finally exploded for 28 points and seven rebounds in LA's first win over Detroit, the team still have to develop chemistry on the court and losing former NBA MVP Steve Nash won&...
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Dwight Howard scored 28 points, Kobe Bryant had 15 points and eight assists, and the Los Angeles Lakers finally got their first victory of the season, 108-79 over the winless Detroit Pistons on Sunday night.
Metta World Peace scored 18 points and Pau Gasol added 14 for the Lakers, who went 0-8 in the preseason and started the regular season 0-3 for just the fourth...
Have you ever fractured your fibula? I haven’t but I’m guessing if I did, I wouldn’t be planning on playing basketball after only two weeks. I have a feeling I’d need my fibula to, you know, do things like run and jump. Steve Nash has this problem. His owners now have this problem. Steve Blake is no Steve Nash, said Lloyd Benson! Who? Look it up if you don’t know! I’m...

While uncertainty still surrounds the Orlando Magic and Phoenix Suns after major offseason changes, both teams appear to have gained some confidence with wins under their belts.
Orlando's season-opening victory, however, came at a cost.
Hoping to overcome Hedo Turkoglu's absence, the Magic try for a fourth consecutive win over the visiting Suns on Sunday night.
