Los Angeles Lakers vice president Jim Buss told NBA TV on Thursday that he not only expects Kobe Bryant to be back by the start of the regular season but also believes he could play in a preseason game. “Well, we’re in Vegas, and I would bet a lot of money that this guy comes back probably in preseason,” Buss said during the Lakers-Milwaukee
The NBA offseason has been far from quiet, and the Lakers are getting ready to make some more noise.
The Lakers and Kurt Rambis are “close” to making a deal that would return the former assistant coach to Los Angeles, according to ESPN.
Rambis is a familiar face in the organization, where he’s played, coached and worked in the front office. He spent time with the Lakers,...
Previously on That NBA Lottery Pick, we mentioned that Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant’s mom was selling some of his high school/NBA memorabilia with Goldin Auctions.
While Kobe stopped a percentage of his own personal items getting sold, that didn’t stop Pam Bryant from the selling a couple of replica rings that Kobe gave her and his father Joe after the team won their...
Seems like the Chris Kaman experience in Los Angeles should be an adventurous one if Kaman’s latest Tweet is any indication. Kaman took to Twitter to post a photo of him on a horse, while the horse is urinating. We don’t want to go into depth but you can see the image below. The hashtag with the photo was #Bigthingsahead.
In case you need a closer look.
EL SEGUNDO, Calif. It's a postage stamp of a room, tucked next to the Lakers' practice court, where Wes Johnson holds up his new Lakers jersey. Theres an illusion of importance imposed by how cramped this is, and Johnson folds his 6'7" frame under a table, and there's some clapping, too.
This is a standard-issue press conference, at least until you consider...
The Los Angeles Lakers are "close" to hiring Kurt Rambis for their coaching staff, a source with knowledge of the situation said Tuesday.
Rambis, an ESPN analyst, has been an assistant coach with the Lakers on and off between 1999 and 2009; he was the lead assistant from 2001-04 and 2005-09. He has eight championship rings as a player, coach and front office executive...
MINNEAPOLIS -- Ronny Turiaf's northern connections run deeper than meets the eye.
Judging by the passion in his voice while speaking with reporters Thursday night, a whole heck of a lot deeper.
"I'm so excited about it," the eight-year, bench-presence veteran said of signing with the Timberwolves, "I feel like I'm a rookie all over again."
The Los Angeles Lakers not only expect Kobe Bryant to be back by the start of the regular season but believe he could also be back by the preseason.
Lakers vice president Jim Buss told NBA TV on Thursday that Bryant is ahead of schedule in his recovery from a torn Achilles tendon he suffered in April. Buss expects Bryant to play in a preseason game.
"Well, we're in Vegas...
In the least earth-shattering news ever in sports, an ESPNLosAngles.com report Wednesday states that the Lakers are planning to make runs at LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony in free agency next summer.
Both James and Anthony have opt-out clauses in their contracts after the 2013-14 season, meaning that they can choose whether they want to return to the Heat and Knicks, respectively...
Newly signed Los Angeles center Chris Kaman, all seven feet of him, sits on a horse, while it's peeing. This should be an interesting year for Lakers fans.
Taking a swipe at the spineless center, Los Angeles Lakers head coach Mike D’Antoni predicts Dwight Howard will struggle to perform in the Houston Rockets’ transition offense. Acquired by Los Angeles last August in a four-team, 12-player deal, the 27-year-old Howard signed with Houston as a free agent earlier this month. Comically, the 6-foot-11, 265 pound Howard cited D’Antoni’s...
Dwight Howard wanted things to be about him L.A., and in Mike D’Antoni’s fast paced, pick and roll system, that was not to be.
Howard has moved on, taking his talents to Houston, and the now the Lakers need to adjust. Lakers point guard Steve Nash is prepared to move on, and told the L.A. Times, that the “Lakers offense will be more fluid without Dwight Howard.”
One can only hope the ashes have died out after the demise of this past Lakers season. Unfortunately the latest string of comments to come out of the Dwight Howard saga might have added a little gasoline to the fire.
It seems everyone lately has taken some parting shots at Howard including Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Shaquille O’Neal, and even Ice Cube. Their gripe has...
The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Los Angeles Clippers by a final score of 77-65 in Summer League play on Monday.
Lester Hudson led the Lakers with 13 points, nine rebounds and four assists. Marcus Landry had 16 points and six rebounds.
Reggie Bullock had 12 points on 5-for-16 shooting for the Clippers.
We wrote about this last week when Stephen A. Smith brought it up, but it's worth an update.
ESPN's Ramona Shelburne and Brian Windhorst wrote about the Lakers upcoming summer of cap space, and how they would ideally like to add either Carmelo Anthony or LeBron James, and are investigating ways to add BOTH of the superstars.
The Los Angeles Lakers, whose plan to re-sign...
