5TH QUARTER MAGAZINE:
The Los Angeles Lakers have one heck of a starting lineup. With such an All-Star lineup, you would expect them to have a loss column in the single-digits. Except in this particular season, the Lakers have 12 losses piled up. One thing is for sure, getting a new coach did not solve all their problems. That move, however, did help rejuvenate the team in terms of a new style that the players like. On the other hand, the players do not seem to understand what playing defense is. Their offense is fine. The Lakers personnel are all offensively capable.
Defense is where they lack. There are some video clips of Dwight Howard having some words for Kobe Bryant. Wait, what? Yes, the newcomer Dwight Howard, who is known for his defense, tells Kobe to help out on defense and rightfully so. Kobe Bryant seems to be floating around on defense. If a switch occurs on defense, he lags off and does not cover his teammates.
On another note, the Lakers seem to be very optimistic. They are running on their own schedule in terms of meshing together and, hopefully, causing a ruckus in the league with some definitive wins. Dwight Howard said,
We’re too good of a team to let everything slip away. We’re going to get better. It’s going to click. We can’t let anyone from outside break our bond. We have to stay patient.
The Lakers just need to get their stuff together. Some Laker fans, if they are even “fans”, are already heading for the exits. True fans are sticking by their team, regardless of the embarrassing losses. Dwight Howard makes a good point about having patience. There is a sense of urgency, but the panic button is not something to be pressing right now. This is a team that has talent. They just have to figure out a way to combine their talents to start plowing their way into the NBA Playoffs.

Tweet Dwight Howard has been in the news alot lately whether it’s been for his poor free-throw shooting (104-218 for a career-low .477%) or a minor exchange with Kobe Bryant during a recent game. Away from the court the Los Angeles Lakers center is as entertaining as any player in the NBA and the [...]
Kobe Bryant headlined an event at Venice Beach to launch his latest signature shoe, the Kobe 8, on Saturday. Fans were able to get a look at the Kobe System from the man himself:
Roy Hibbert is coming for your title, Dwight Howard. He might not be coming swiftly, or very directly, but he is coming. Hibbert intends to be the best center in the NBA one day, supplanting Howard as the elite of that position, the struggling Pacers center declared while denying that he posted a photo with “#[expletive]Dwight” on Instagram. Hibbert’s offensive decline has...

CLEVELAND -- Mike D'Antoni stood outside the visiting locker room and stared at the ground.
His eyes were bloodshot, his hair a mess, his tie out of sorts. It was as if he had spent the previous 48 minutes tumbling in a clothes dryer.
"The state that we're in, that's inexcusable, and we've got to figure it out," he said.
D'Antoni was speaking after...

Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant combined for their highest point total (69) of the season in the Thunders match up against the Lakers on Friday night. CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Cavaliers ran into one of the all-time greats.
