Pau Gasol expects to return from a concussion on Thursday night when the Los Angeles Lakers host the Miami Heat.
Gasol has missed five games since Denver's JaVale McGee accidentally elbowed him in the face. The 7-foot Spaniard is optimistic he's ready to play again after going through a short workout with his teammates Wednesday at the Lakers' training complex.
The Lakers (17-21) have won two straight heading into their visit from the defending NBA champions, but they're still facing an uphill climb in the second half of the season to make the playoffs.
Los Angeles' four biggest stars have played together only for short stretches of the season, and Gasol is eager to see how the Lakers can handle coach Mike D'Antoni's offense when they're all together again.

Destination LA Lakers: Are We There Yet?
Ok. I get it. Yes, where the LA Lakers currently find themselves (an unbelieveable 4 games below .500, an unimagineable 3 games out of 8th position, in 12th within the Western Conference) sucks. Yes, for the vast majority of the time thus far this season, that verbiage (sucks) could be used to describe the Lakers... a team with a starting roster that is beyond even fantasy...
Lebron and Heat Too Much for Struggling Lakers
Photo courtesy of Frederic J. Brown. The Lakers needed this win. They absolutely, positively needed this win. They needed it for their confidence. They needed it for validation that they were starting anew. And they needed it as a reminder of how good they could and should be. But even when Miami was missing three-pointer after three-pointer, and their layups seemed averse to the...
