Los Angeles Lakers
Kirk Hinrich scored 22 points, Marco Belinelli added 15 points, and the Chicago Bulls pulled away down the stretch to beat the struggling Los Angeles Lakers 95-83 on Monday night.
Belinelli came up big in the closing minutes, scoring eight points during an 18-4 run that broke a 75-75 tie and sent the Lakers to their ninth loss in 11 games.
He started it by hitting two free throws after getting fouled by Dwight Howard with 6:54 left in the game and wrapped two 3-pointers around a layup by Los Angeles' Earl Clark, making it 89-79 with 2:27 remaining.
The Lakers have now dropped six straight on the road, and this one came after coach Mike D'Antoni shook up the lineup. He moved forward Pau Gasol to a reserve role and replaced him with Clark, but the slide continued on a night when Kobe Bryant and Howard were mostly nonfactors.
Hinrich hit 9 of 11 shots and nailed three 3-pointers. Belinelli and Nate Robinson (11 points) also hit three, and the Bulls were 9 of 17 overall from...

Bulls star point guard Derrick Rose could soon be going through full-contact drills in practice.
Coach Tom Thibodeau says Rose is ''very close'' to doing just that and it'll be ''the next step'' in his recovery from a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
Asked if it could happen this week, Thibodeau responded, ''Yeah - it...
Maybe Dwight is sleep, so the messages aren’t serving their intended purpose? The Lakers are a mess and it is getting close to the time to raise the white flag.
Can’t just blame one person, but it appears they maybe jumped the gun on firing Mike Brown unless they knew for sure they were going to get Phil Jackson.
Once that didn’t happen their season has really spiraled out...
Like father, like son? Derrick Rose and his ‘Little Bulls Fan’:
So far, so good with Earl Clark. His first night as the Lakers' starting power forward ended in a loss, but Clark played well (12 points, eight rebounds and two blocks).
Clark played 34 minutes, and it sounds like he's locked in going forward. Pick him up.
Off the bench, Pau Gasol played 25 minutes but posted an efficient line: 15 points, 12 rebounds, two assists and...
Derrick Rose could be on the practice floor as soon as Tuesday. If not then, maybe Thursday.
Chicago coach Tom Thibodeau said Monday evening that Rose, rehabbing his way back from ACL knee surgery, is “very close” to beginning full-contact practice. “That’ll be the next step,” the Bulls coach said before facing the Los Angeles Lakers Monday night at United Center. Did “very...
Mitch Kupchak is working against the Feb. 21 deadline on whether to make an in-season trade.
Mike D’Antoni announced Monday that Pau Gasol would be out as Lakers’ starter permanently. He stressed that the Lakers play better when they’re small and that Earl Clark, who played well in Gasol’s absence, is the new starting power forward.
Well, Pau Gasol isn’t happy with the decision as you may of suspected. He recently made it clear that he wants to continue to be a...
The season has been a colossal disappointment so far, and Kobe Bryant was willing to shoulder the blame not only for Sunday's defeat, but also for the entire season.
Kobe Bryant has been non-stop entertainment since he joined Twitter just a few weeks back. On Sunday he announced that today (Jan 22, and 1pm pst) NBA TV will be replaying his 81-point performance against the Knicks which happened seven years ago, and he will be live-Tweeting it. You can follow Kobe right HERE and enjoy the fun.
Letting u know that tmr I’m gonna watch my 81 game...
The Chicago Bulls have performed admirably in the first half of this season without star point guard Derrick Rose. A second straight absence from leading scorer Luol Deng also didn't affect the team too much last time out.
With Deng's status unknown, the Bulls will seek their fifth win in six games Wednesday night by adding to their dominance of the Detroit Pistons.

Another game. Another loss. Who is to blame for such woes?
The Los Angeles Lakers lost to the Chicago Bulls 95-83 on Monday night, continuing the free-fall for the “Purple and Gold.” At 17-24, they currently sit at 12th in the West, four games behind the Houston Rockets for the eighth seed. Not exactly what people expected out of the new-look Lakers.
Who is to blame for the...
