Although Kobe Bryant's season is over, Dwight Howard thinks the Los Angeles Lakers' fun has just begun.
The Lakers are still digesting the news they'll be without their top scorer and team leader for the rest of the season after Bryant tore his Achilles tendon last week.
The rest of Los Angeles' roster rallied for a win over powerful San Antonio on Sunday night, putting the Lakers on the brink of a playoff berth.
Howard radiated optimism afterward, seeing Bryant's absence as an opportunity ''to do something special.'' The All-Star center still thinks the Lakers are championship contenders if they can squeak into the playoffs.
But everybody must assume part of Bryant's enormous responsibilities. Howard knows he must score more often, and Pau Gasol plans to assume more leadership.

Kobe Bryant's trainer Tim Grover spoke about Kobe's torn achilles tendon and whether or not it was the result of playing so many minutes.
The last time he was injured this season, Kobe Bryant sat on the Lakers bench and drew plays on a clipboard for his teammates.
This time, Lakers coach Mike DAntoni insists he doesnt need any help.

Trusting in Dwight Howard’s word about what he plans to do in free agency has been a shaky in the past. But if his latest actions are any indications, the rumors that Dwight plans to sign in LA long term this summer absolutely point to that. Not only did Dwight go to the hospital to visit Kobe Bryant following the surgery on Mamba’s achilles tendon, he and teammate Jodie Meeks...
Now that Kobe Bryant has some time on his hands, he’s decided to explore the Instagram world. But, like anyone trying out a new technology, he’s experienced a few hitches. Let’s just say he’s still getting his photo cropping skills down.

The future of the Los Angeles Lakers became even more uncertain on Friday night when Kobe Bryant suffered a torn Achilles’ tendon. The team already has to deal with Dwight Howard becoming an impending free agent, let alone worrying about Kobe’s anticipated six-to-nine month recovery period.
According to USA Today Sports, Howard is expected to re-sign with LA. Two sources close...
Kobe isn’t around to tell him to keep the clown act in Orlando, so Dwight is back to his happy-go-lucky self. Since, he doesn’t like to use the Superman moniker anymore after Shaq punked him, he is thinking about trying out a new name.
Dwight also suggested he could be the “Chocolate Mamba.” And sell a snack bar by that name.

With their best player out for 6 months a few of the Lakers decided to pay Kobe Bryant a visit. Not only did Dwight Howard go to the hospital to visit [...]
If this was an episode of “24″ (I know ironic), Dwight would be checking in to make sure Kobe was never released from hospital (I miss Jack Bauer).
I believe Dwight somewhat, when he says that Kobe has helped him this season, but I also believe, he is embracing the fact, that he can be the “MAN” while Kobe is injured.
Frankly, for the Lakers to prosper, even when Kobe comes...
