The firing of Mike Brown early last season was a shocking decision for most people. The new season had barely begun and already the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers had been fired. However, it wasn’t a quick decision by Dr. Jerry Buss to send Brown packing.
According to an interview by ESPN, Jim Buss says his father mulled over the decision to fire Brown for about a month, and in the end, Dr. Buss felt his coach had lost the players, which led to him pulling the trigger:
“Basketball business,” Jim Buss said. “Mike Brown. That was a decision that was made over the course of about a month. And on those decisions he was right on top of his game.
“He felt that Mike Brown lost the players.”
How could he know that from his hospital room?
“Just losing preseason games, comments made by some of the players, the body language, the intelligence that Mitch and I gave him. If you heard and saw all the things we saw, it was a pretty simple conclusion.
“There was something wrong there. Somethi...

Last week, Xavier Henry quickly became a member of the Los Angeles Lakers - one minute the purple and gold reportedly had interest in him and the next he signed on the dotted line.
Now he’s officially a member of the Lakeshow, Henry told Lakers.com that he’s looking forward to learning from Kobe Bryant on a day-to-day basis. The guard also hopes to draw a lot of fouls and get...
A post about a Lakers player flirting with singer via Twitter? Yep, it’s most definitely still the off-season.
Earlier today, Nick Young took part “Woman Crush Wednesday” – otherwise known as WCW – when he tweeted about his “interest” in Australian-born singer Iggy Azalea:
#WCW would have to be iggy azalea— Nick Young (@NickSwagyPYoung) September 11, 2013
Pau Gasol has been bearded for quite a while now. Sure, when he arrived in Los Angeles he tamed it a little, but we haven’t seen a clean shaven Pau for quite some time. Until today, that is.
Pau lost a bet with his brother Marc, and he paid it off by shaving off his beard. This wasn’t just some silly wager between two brothers, though: it was all in aid of the Gasol Foundation...
The Los Angeles Lakers will have a new addition in their Time Warner Cable SportsNet studio this season.

Today marks a day in history that most Americans will not soon forget (and shouldn't). I am sure that many of you saw people with American flags draped over the overpass of a freeway today along with 'Never Forget' signs.
The idea is to honor and remember the people that died that day and have died since. I am sure that was what the Los Angeles Lakers intended with...

The Lakers are perennially among the NBA’s leaders in television appearances, but this is a little bit different. Legendary coach Phil Jackson and his fiancee, Lakers vice president Jeanie Buss, will reportedly serve as executive producers for a new cable television series about a family that owns a professional basketball team, sound familiar?
If the Lakers were looking to offend a few people and confuse just about everyone else, they succeeded.
Twitter was loaded with 9/11-themed messages on Wednesday, the 12th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The tweets ranged from touching and personal to curious and questionable, with the Lakers pushing hard to lead the latter group.

Kobe Bryant will play in 2013-14, but might not be ready for Oct. 29.
Bryant, hosting the Kobe Bryant Health & Fitness Weekend in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, told Time Out Dubai, "I'm feeling pretty good ... stronger than I was. I'm ahead of (my recovery) schedule.'I don't know (whether) that means I'll start the season I hope so.'With or without their...
The history of the Los Angeles Lakers suggests they should be able to bring aboard a major star in 2014, when they could have large salary cap space. Some members of the Lakers' management, however, have long faces -- particularly when it comes to potentially signing LeBron James next summer.
"Within the organization there isn't a single person that believes we can bring...
If people thought that a golf course advertising a $9.11 special on 9/11 was cause for uproar, then this post on the Los Angeles Lakers' official Twitter account is sure to result in a few angry phone calls and emails:
The post has already been deleted , but thankfully Deadspin preserved the screen grab you see above before it could be erased from the Internet. I'm not so...
Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal are considered by many to be the greatest one-two punch to ever step on a basketball court. Over their eight years together – which were far from easy at times – the pair made four NBA Finals appearances and won three championships, but what was it like when these two NBA legends first met each other?
Bryant recently told Jimmy Kimmel that...
It’s not hard to get a mental image of someone in the Lakers’ marketing department, mallet in hand, relentlessly trying to hammer a square peg into a round hole.
That’s essentially what the Lakers did Wednesday when they tweeted a photo of Kobe Bryant, circa 2001, along with the words “#NEVERFORGET” in a ham-handed attempt at a 9/11 remembrance. The reaction from fans and...
When something goes right for the Los Angeles Lakers, Mitch Kupchak gets all the credit and when something goes wrong, Jim Buss gets all the blame. And Jeanie Buss? Many fans want her to replace her brother and work alongside Kupchak.
That’s the way things work these days in Lakerland.
Many on the outside are worried about the future direction of the franchise seeing as the man...
Last Thursday, two wives of the biggest names in the NBA game got dinner together in West LA as Vanessa Bryant (Kobe Bryant’s wife) and La La Anthony (Carmelo Anthony’s wife) grabbed some grub at trendy Madeo restaurant.
Below is an Instagram image of the two smiling together that Kobe’s wife posted to her account:

Pau Gasol is a man of his word. The Lakers forward shaved his beard for the first time in nine years Thursday after losing a bet, regarding The Gasol Foundation, to brother, Marc Gasol.
