Last season, Pau Gasol had an injury-plagued year. He had career-lows in games played (49), points per game (13.7) and rebounds per game (8.6), though he did see a high as a Laker in assists per game (4.1). His main problem was the tendinitis in his knees, though he was also sidelined for six weeks after tearing his plantar fascia. Despite the struggles for Gasol, he finished the year strong, averaging 17.5 points, 12.1 rebounds, 6.6 assists and 1.3 blocks per game during the month of April. Back in May, Gasol underwent a procedure on his knees and was expected at the time to make a return to the court in August, so it appears that he’s on track during his recovery. Yesterday, Gasol tweeted that his knees are “progressing well”: After a good workout in the weight room, we'll pedal a few miles on the bicycle. The knees are progressing well! #lookingahead— Pau Gasol (@paugasol) August 10, 2013 Gasol also recently revealed that he has been working in the weight room, swimming pool and has been taking bike rides in order to get his knees in top shape: This morning, great work in the swimming pool. Today we swam 1500 meters. Day by day, feeling better and stronger. #lookingahead— Pau Gasol (@paugasol) August 6, 2013 Toward the end of the year, Gasol proved that he can still play in this league, especially when he’s getting looks down in the low-post. With Dwight Howard gone, and with a healthier body, Pau should see a resurgent year next season, and may even land himself a spot in the All-Star game once again if the Lakers have a decent record.
