The Los Angeles Lakers are in turmoil.  At least they seem that way.  However, it's early in the season, the Lakers are just two games under .500, and there is hope on the horizon.  They have trade options, and they have players who will eventually return from injury.  Pau Gasol could net the Lakers what they need offensively if the team decides to move him.  And Steve Nash will return from his fractured leg to help run the offense.Ken Berger of CBS Sports writes that the Lakers struggles should ease when Nash returns.  He points out that the current offensive system is largely dependent on Nash, and he has been out since before Mike D'Antoni was hired.  Berger also suggests that the Lakers look for wing help and a stronger bench.  This doesn't mean they should trade Gasol, but it's an option. Gasol has been ineffective this season, and the trade rumors started heating up about a week or two ago.  The Lakers are not likely to pull the trigger on a deal for Gasol right now, but they could in the coming weeks.  They have time to evaluate further whether Gasol can fit into the Lakers' offense. As for Nash, the veteran point guard thrives under Mike D'Antoni's system.  When he returns, there could be some instant improvements to the Lakers' offense.  And they need that.  The team also needs some defensive help. The Lakers blew a 17 point lead the night before last against the Houston Rockets.  It was an embarrassing loss that highlighted almost every one of the team's flaws.  Changes are coming.  It's just a matter of when and how effective those changes will be. Pau’s achy breaky knees are giving me an achy breaky heart!

Last week I told you to buy low on Pau Gasol. I gave you a reasoned explanation why. I scoured his career averages, looked at his current season averages and concluded that the only real difference was his poor FG, lack of FGA attempts vis-a-vis his career FGA and points per game. Of course, a poorer FG and less FGA per translate to less points per game! Reasonable explanation like...
