Local commercials starring big-name athletes tend to be a treasure trove of unintentional comedy, although, at this point, one could argue that the comedy in some of these spots is totally intentional. Exhibit A for the intentional comedy argument is this ad for Mcloughlin Auto Mall, located just outside Portland, Ore. (Thanks, Mcloughlin, that’ll be $5.) The two pitchmen — LaMarcus Aldridge and Robin Lopez of the Portland Trail Blazers — make a hilarious attempt at “singing” the auto mall’s jingle. As you would expect, it doesn’t go well. Yet, it’s so hilariously awful that it makes the whole thing that much more awesome. If you thought the ad was good for a few chuckles, peep the outtakes for more comedy. Video: New Portland-Based Car Dealership Ad Starring Lamarcus Aldridge And Robin Lopez Is Quite Charming

The starting frontcourt for the Portland Trailblazers stole the show recently — not just on the court, but in the brand new McLoughlin’s car dealership commercial as well. In the ad, Lamarcus Aldridge and Robin Lopez sing, have a good time, and just act plain goofy. They completely embraced the fact that they’re not incredible actors or singers, and by just being themselves...

LaMarcus Aldridge continues MVP-like play, Trail Blazers continue winning ways

The jaw-dropping performances are coming so frequently, so effortlessly and so monumentally, Robin Lopez has given up trying to forecast what might happen next. Instead, he’s decided to just hop aboard the L-Train, sit back and enjoy the ride. “LA’s been playing at one hell of a level,” Lopez said, referring to LaMarcus Aldridge. “I know it’s only 20-something games...

Blazers LaMarcus Aldridge & Robin Lopez singing in a car commercial

The Portland Trailblazers have shocked many this NBA season by seemingly coming out of nowhere to dominate the top spot in the West. Currently sitting at 19-4, they’re now on everyone’s radar. So it’s only fitting that I show you a Portland area car dealership commercial that features LaMarcus Aldridge and Robin Lopez serenading you about their favorite Car mall.

Aldridge paces the surprising Blazers

The late-game ''M-V-P!'' chants are now the norm in Portland for LaMarcus Aldridge, and the Trail Blazers' forward is putting up numbers worthy of such adulation. The two-time All-Star is averaging a career-high 23.5 points and 10.6 rebounds. He's leading the way for a surprising Portland team that sits atop the Western Conference with a 19-4 record. It&...

LaMarcus Aldridge, Robin Lopez Star in Bizarre Ad for Portland Car Dealership (Video)

The Portland Trail Blazers are finally getting some publicity — in the form of an awkwardly produced local car commercial. Robin Lopez and LaMarcus Aldridge starred in a recently released ad for a Portland car dealership that features an odd fake press conference and a fair amount of off-key singing. But worst of all is the green screen, which simply cannot handle Lopez’s Sideshow...

Trail Blazers-76ers Preview

LaMarcus Aldridge is starting to garner some early MVP consideration after leading the Portland Trail Blazers to their best start in 23 seasons. The Philadelphia 76ers, in contrast, haven't had much go their way of late. The Trail Blazers try to stay unbeaten against the Eastern Conference as they face the woeful 76ers on Saturday night. Aldridge is posting career highs of...

LaMarcus Aldridge Dropped 31 & 25 On Dwight Howard (Video)

LaMarcus Aldridge went through a summer of rumored trade request and plain unhappiness.  The Portland Trail Blazers, seeing what they had in the talented big man wouldn’t budge. What is happening now is truly remarkable. Aldridge is balling, and the Trail Blazers have rushed out to an impressive 19-4 early season record in the stacked Western Conference. Aldridge put his full...

LaMarcus Aldridge and Robin Lopez are tearing up the small screen

This has to be intentionally done bad. The car dealership, Lopez, and Aldridge all knew how bad this was going to be. They also knew that it would go viral and get some attention for the dealership. This has to be the case.Success...I guess.H/T - FORTHEW!N

LaMarcus Aldridge puts up monster double-double with 31 points, 25 rebounds

LaMarcus Aldridge heard the MVP chants near the end of the Portland Trail Blazers' 111-104 win over the Houston Rockets. Aldridge dominated with 31 points and 25 rebounds to go with two assists, two steals and two blocks. Those MVP chants -- valid. Aldridge is locked in kaiju-toppling-a-city mode (23.2 points, 10 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.1 steal and .7 blocks).Dwight Howard had...

LaMarcus Aldridge: Dropping A Rainbow Line And A Goromotaro Like A Meteor Shower

Anyone stay up to watch some of the Geminid meteor shower start up last night?  I love astronomy.  And it’s not really that different from fantasy.  You use math and all sorts of techy stats like Win Shares or True Shooting Percentage or Gravitational Microlensing to find far off worlds and far off fantasy production.  Then if you’re lucky enough, like having the reigns at...

Blazers hit 21 3-pointers, earn 20th win in rout of Sixers

LaMarcus Aldridge had 20 points and 16 rebounds, Nicolas Batum added 17 points and the Portland Trail Blazers set a franchise record for 3-pointers with 21 in their 139-105 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday night.

Blazers pound Sixers 139-105, sets franchise record for threes in a game

The Portland Trail Blazers improved to 10-2 on the road with a 139-105 win over the Philadelphia 76ers Saturday night at the Wells Fargo Center. Philadelphia (7-18) went toe-to-toe with Portland (20-4) for two quarters and the reasoning behind that could have stemmed from earlier in the day. The traffic that the annual Army-Navy football game generated this morning prevented the...

NBA All-Star Voting Popularity Contest Must End

The preliminary NBA all-star voting numbers were just released, and, as usual, the results are ridiculous. A few observations: +The Clippers’ Blake Griffin has more votes than Portland’s LaMarcus Aldridge. +Derrick Rose and Rajon Rondo are each in the Eastern Conference backcourt top 5, even though neither are active. In the West, Steve Nash is among the top 10 despite playing...
