Larry Bird may someday retire to Florida, but right now, he just has too much work to do. The Celtics legend, who retook the president of basketball operations job for the Pacers this year, doesn’t have enough time to spend at his $4.8 million home in Naples, Fla., so he will be selling the spot, The News-Press reports. While Bird got to use the house during his yearlong break from the Pacers, he spent just a week there the last time he was fully running the team, said Bird’s agent, Jill Leone. The offering is not bad for those who enjoy Florida-style perks, but it’s also got some basketball touches, too. In addition to 6,000 square feet of living space and a 500-gallon saltwater aquarium, there’s a 10-seat home theater and a basketball hoop in the driveway. The home is also unique in that Bird had it built. He bought a house on the same land in 1998 for $875,000 but tore it down to build the current version in 2001. Bird had previously owned another home in the same area, which he bought in 1993. “He’s a nice guy,” neighbor Beverley Cook said. “They are nice neighbors. Every morning, he and his wife went running, and we often said hello.” The house has four bedrooms, four bathrooms, a bar, a fireplace, a four-car garage and a boat dock as well.
