Found June 10, 2013 on Celtics Life:
Over the next couple days Cort Reynolds will take a look at the top NBA Finals performances by Larry Bird. Presented here are numbers 10-6. Stay tuned for the final five. By Cort Reynolds With the NBA championship series in full swing and talk about Tim Duncan's place among the game's all-time greats being bandied about, it seems a good time to review the top 10 Finals contests in the storied career of Celtic legend Larry Bird. Bird played in 31 championship series games over five series, leading the Celtics to three crowns and a 16-15 overall record. Other than the 1984 seven-game classic over the Lakers, the other four Finals he played in all went six contests, with two being injury-plagued losses to the hated Los Angelenos. With all due respect to Duncan, the talk of him being a top 10 player all time is just not valid. San Antonio has never beaten a great or even very good team in the Finals during its four trips previous to 2013. And the NBA is severely watered do...

Rajon Rondo Says Courtney Lee’s Doc Rivers Impression Is Best on Celtics (Video)

Rajon Rondo has played for Doc Rivers for seven years, so the 27-year-old point guard knows his coach fairly well. He also knows when someone’s impression of his coach is spot-on and when it needs work. Rondo has had a few teammates over the years who do an admirable impression of Rivers, but Rondo thinks Courtney Lee‘s is the best of all the current Celtics. In a wide-ranging...

Report: Doc doesn’t want any part of full-blown rebuild

CSNNE’s Sherrod Blakely is the latest to report on the thoughts in Doc Rivers’ head: A league source told CSNNE.com on Monday that Rivers’ decision on whether he will return will not be based solely on whether Paul Pierce and/or Kevin Garnett are back in next season. Rivers’ hesitation to verbally commit to next season has more to do with his uncertainty as to what type...

Jason Terry Named Celtics’ Sixth Man of Year After Lowest-Scoring Season Since Rookie Year

Jason Terry‘s scoring average fell to a 13-year low in his first season in Boston, and his playoff production was only slightly better as the Celtics were knocked out in the first round of the playoffs. Even so, this season was not without its honors for “The Jet. The Celtics named Terry as their sixth man of the year on Monday, honoring the 35-year-old guard and their second...

More than five weeks after the Celtics were bounced from the playoffs by the New York Knicks, Doc Rivers has yet to say definitively whether he will be back on the bench for the team next season. While the signs tilt toward him being back, seeing as Rivers has attended pre-draft workouts and discussed next year’s roster with president of basketball operations Danny Ainge, Rivers...

Celtics 2K4 covers

Just for fun, some NBA 2K14 covers that Celtics fans would like to see. Via my pal LoveGarnett:

Oprah boosts brothers' Boston cause

This spring, high school senior Harris Stolzenberg and his 13-year-old brother Michael, a quadruple-amputee, started a charity called Mikey's Run with the noble, if idealistic, objective of raising $1 million on their own for victims of the bombings at the Boston Marathon. On Monday, the Stolzenberg brothers' goal became much more realistic, thanks to a $100,000 donation...

Boston Celtics: What I Want The Celtics to Look Like This Year

Boston Celtics: What I Want The Celtics to Look Like This Year By Bryan Luis I have never been a fan of Danny Ainge, but every Celtics fan has to admit that he brought the team out of life support with the trades for Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen in 2008. Now fast forward five years to now and you see a team in the pits of mediocrity, but I have a plan my fellow Celtics fans. Right...

Your Morning Dump… Where Doc would rather not say what his plans are

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. Rivers said he needed to “detox” after the season and apologized for being inaccessible to reporters. But he would not give any indication whether he will be back for a 10th season although president of basketball...
