Nothing like trade rumours to heat up the days of winter. The latest that has the Toronto Raptors involved is once again the Rudy Gay trade. ESPN’s Marc Stein reported last night that according to “sources with knowledge of the talks,” the Raptors and Grizzlies “are engaged in active trade discussions” with regards to Toronto acquiring Rudy Gay. I do enjoy the creative ways that sports writers hide “what I read on Twitter”. Stein also writes that the potential Raptors/Grizzlies deal could eventually include more teams, and that it is believed Jose Calderon, Kyle Lowry and Andrea Bargnani are all available, his main report is that Calderon and Ed Davis are the “cornerstones” of Toronto’s offer for Gay and that the Raps also covet Memphis power forward Darrell Arthur. Not a fan of trading Ed Davis but it could be a good shake up for Toronto. A larger, multi-team blockbuster that sees the Raptors part ways with Calderon, Davis, Lowry and Bargnani – or even three of those four players – would hopefully see the Raptors acquire at least a couple of impact players or multiple young assets in the form of players and draft picks. Whoa, let’s not go crazy here. Let’s just focus on cleaning up the mess at point guard. Once again the Raptors have created drama about who is starting and who is coming off the bench. Enough already. As for Gay. I think he has hit his ceiling already and is just an older version of DeRozan. Could both survive on the floor together? The prospect of having Gay, DeRozan and Ross on the floor, makes me think of an alley oooooop show. So will they pull the trigger? Will Gay actually want to play here? I seem to think they stick with how the team is going now. They have a great core going. They just need to clear up the PG spot and decide on Bargnani. Anyways, we shall see. addthis_url = 'http%3A%2F%2Fcuzoogle.com%2F2013%2F01%2F29%2Flike-it-or-not-a-gay-trade-could-happen-in-toronto%2F'; addthis_title = 'Like+it+or+not%2C+a+Gay+trade+could+happen+in+Toronto'; addthis_pub = '';
