David Stern stepping down as NBA commissioner effective in 2014 is either a massive shame or the best news in weeks, depending on where fans stand on the man who has presided over professional basketball since 1984. Stern made several league-altering decisions in his tenure, which will continue for another two years before deputy commissioner Adam Silver takes over the top job. Many of those decisions were highly unpopular with some people and remain so to this day. If we had a law student's patience and lots of time on our hands, we might be able to thumb through every page of the NBA's collective bargaining agreement and find every eyebrow-raising clause. Since we have neither, though, we will avoid the legalese and take a look at Stern's controversial moves that do not require a law degree to seem a bit questionable. Some of the highlights include legislating players' wardrobe's, introducing a new ball none of the players liked when the existing ball seemed just fine and allegedly fixing draft lotteries. The NBA will not necessarily be better or worse without Stern, but if this list is an indication, the day-to-day goings-on will be far less eventful. Check out the top 10 most controversial moments of Stern's NBA career>>
