By Mike Elworth: Publisher and Owner of HoopStuff Somehow Kobe Bryant was able to play in the first game after severely spraining his ankle, but after 12 unproductive minutes, he had to take himself out of the game. If Kobe Bryant takes himself out of a game, you know he is injured. If he is to miss significant time, the Lakers cannot lose too many games, as they are barely holding onto the 8th seed in the Western Conference. There are three players who must step up significantly now for the Lakers, Dwight Howard, Steve Nash and Jodie Meeks and this is even if Kobe Bryant does play, as he will be nowhere near 100% and will have a reduced role and will play fewer minutes. Dwight Howard: If Bryant misses any time, Howard will become the focal point of the offense and will most likely be so, even if Bryant does play, as he will be limited. The team should go to Howard early and often, as his play has been spectacular of late and he can handle an increased responsibility in the offense....

A Reminder Of What Michael Jordan Vs. Kobe Bryant Looked Like

The Internet continues to be an incredible little tool for blasts from the past, and this morning it didn’t disappoint. Check out the below video which is over 13 minutes of a majority of the Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan one-on-one moments during NBA games. The two had four years of overlap in the NBA. Column: Kobe's right, and NBA should've done more

Kobe Bryant has had plenty of calls go his way during 16 years in the NBA, so it would be easy to dismiss his complaints in the ongoing debate about how he sprained his ankle. That would be a gross injustice. Dohntay Jones' play wasn't just dangerous, it was downright dirty. The Los Angeles Lakers all-star actually didn't go far enough in griping about the play in...

Kobe out as Lakers visit Suns

The Los Angeles Lakers will be without Kobe Bryant for the second game in a row when they face the Phoenix Suns on Monday night. Bryant missed a game for the first time this season when he sat out the Lakers' victory over Sacramento on Sunday night because of a sprained left ankle. He was injured last week in the waning seconds of a loss to Atlanta. Bryant, the fifth-leading...

Lakers' Kobe Bryant Back in Starting Lineup

Los Angeles Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant is one of the most durable players in the league today. He's managed to thrive under pain and injury and will do so again Friday night. After going down with a sprained left ankle which was labelled "severe", many believed Bryant would miss game time, at least a couple of games. The Black Mamba and the Lakers have other plans...

Kobe leaves early, Lakers top Pacers

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- When Kobe Bryant couldn't be the tough guy on the court Friday night, he resorted to being an MVP coach. After hobbling around on a severely sprained left ankle for 12 minutes, Bryant retreated to the bench, where he spent the rest of the night contesting calls, waving teammates into the right spots and even drawing something up on a clipboard for Dwight...

Kobe a game-time decision vs. Pacers

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Kobe Bryant's availability for Friday night's game will be a game-time decision. The Lakers' star has spent the past two days treating what he calls the worst sprained ankle of his career. He was injured after landing on the foot of Atlanta's Dahntay Jones in the closing seconds Wednesday night. NBA officials said Thursday a foul should have...

Kobe listed as “game-time decision” tonight against the Pacers

No one can question Kobe Bryant’s dedication to winning or at the very least showing up. Further hammering that in, earlier today, less than 48 hours removed from severely spraining his left ankle in a game against the Atlanta Hawks, the Lakers changed his status from “out indefinitely” to “game-time decision” — meaning Kobe could possibly play...

Despite Injuries, Lakers Are Surging

Photo Credit: Getty Images Kobe Bryant is doubtful for tonight’s game against the Phoenix Suns. After sustaining his ankle injury in the last seconds of the Atlanta Hawks game he played for only a quarter of the win against the Indiana Pacers and did not dress Sunday in the win versus the Sacramento Kings. Via Twitter, Kobe announced he has the #flu alongside his ankle injury...

D'Antoni: Lakers 'Don't Have To Be One-Player Dominant'

Mike D'Antoni believes the Lakers shouldn't have to be reliant on Kobe Bryant to play one-on-one basketball when he returns,

Kobe sits, Lakers drop 113 on Kings

Kobe Bryant never even emerged from the Los Angeles Lakers' locker room, slowed by his sprained ankle and leveled by an apparent case of the flu. The Lakers didn't seem to miss him much while they rolled to another win in what's turning into an awfully interesting second half of the season. Antawn Jamison scored 27 points, Metta World Peace added 22, and the Lakers...

Dahntay Jones Says he Didn’t try to Hurt Kobe

Dahntay Jones and Kobe Bryant have a history of getting in each others way. In a playoff game a few years ago between Jones’ Denver Nuggets and Bryant’s Los Angeles Lakers, Jones admittedly tripped Bryant on purpose after growing frustrated with alleged elbows and cheap shots. Four years later and Jones refuses to accept responsibility this time for an incident he claims was...

LA Lakers beat Kings without Kobe

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Antawn Jamison scored 27 points, Metta World Peace added 22, and the Los Angeles Lakers won without Kobe Bryant, beating the Sacramento Kings 113-102 Sunday night for their sixth victory in seven games. Bryant missed his first game of the season to rest his sprained left ankle, making a game-time decision to rest his aching joint. Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni...
