ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Orlando Magic's commitment to build through younger players became further evident Saturday when the team announced the exercising of the options of Nikola Vucevic, Maurice Harkless, Tobias Harris and Andrew Nicholson through the 2014-15 season.
Under the terms of the NBA's collective bargaining agreement, the Magic had until Oct. 31 to decide whether to pick up the options of all four players, all 23 or younger. The estimated total cost to the Magic is a shade more than 8.5 million, topped by the 2.75 million which will be due Vucevic next season. That's less than what they are committed to paying veteran point guard Jameer Nelson for this season alone.
Harris shared his joy on his Twitter account shortly after the news became official.
