Magic Johnson goes down as one of the best players to play for the Los Angeles Lakers.  The franchise has meant so much to him since they let him run the show back in the 80′s with Showtime.  Recently, Magic Johnson has spoken out and has criticized Lakers management.  ESPN Los Angeles broke down what Magic had to say.  In a way, this was an attack on Jim Buss, who is being groomed as the successor to run the Lakers after Dr. Jerry Buss steps down.  Magic said, I love Dr. Buss.  I don’t believe in Jim Buss.  He’s made two critical mistakes already.  To me, they made two critical mistakes. Magic would continue on to say, First, hiring Mike Brown — he wasn’t the right coach.  He’s a great coach but not the right coach for the Lakers.  And I don’t feel Mike D’Antoni is the right coach for the Lakers.  Especially when you have Phil Jackson sitting out there, who wanted to be the Laker coach.  Jim Buss decided he didn’t want Phil Jackson, he wanted Mike D’Antoni.  And that’s OK, but why didn’t you just say that?  But the fans were cheering for Phil Jackson two nights in a row. Magic Johnson really wanted Phil Jackson to be hired as the head coach of the Lakers.  He took onto his Twitter account and tweeted, The reason I haven’t tweeted in 2 days is because I’ve been mourning Phil Jackson not being hired as the Lakers head coach. Someone seems really bitter that he was not consulted regarding the direction of the team.  We all get the fact that Magic is one of the greatest Lakers player to ever don the purple and gold jersey.  His role as an ESPN analyst gives him the right to say anything he wants.  On the other hand, his days of being a part owner and a vice president for the Lakers are over.  Perhaps Dr. Buss did want Phil Jackson, but is letting his son Jim Buss experience mistakes in order to grow as a future owner and businessman.  Or perhaps the hiring of Mike D’Antoni instead of Phil Jackson is, in fact, the best route for a championship now rather than later.
