Kobe and Vanessa Bryant didn’t give up on their marriage, but Magic Johnson has divorced himself from this Los Angeles Lakers season. Facing their 6th-straight loss against the Thunder on Friday night, the former Lakers legend called it a season for the Lakers as they trailed by 16 at halftime. “It’s over for my Lakers. No playoffs, no nothing,” The Lakers ended up losing the game 116-101, and now stand with a 15-21 record, 5 games out of the 8th and final playoff spot in the highly competitive Western Conference. The team has battled injuries to many of its starters for the bulk of the season, and have yet to really grab hold of the offensive scheme that Mike D’Antoni brings. With that said, their defense is one of the worst in the NBA. A definite disappointment after an offseason saw the team acquire All-Star center Dwight Howard and former league MVP Steve Nash. Earlier in the week, Johnson ranted on Twitter about the play of the Lakers, and singled out many of the headline stars on the team. • YES INDEED COMING FROM THE MAN HIMSELF, MR LAKER BASKETBALL. SHALL WE LOWER OUR FLAGS NOW TO HALF MASS OR RAISE THE TRUCE BANNER OR THE WHITE FLAG. I KNOW THE MOST LOYAL FANS INCLUDING YOURS TRULY WOULD WANT TO WISH FOR AN EVEN GLIMMER OF HOPE FOR THIS CURRENT PREDICAMENT. BUT ANALYZING THE WHOLE SITUATION ,IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THIS BODY IS ENTERING INTO A STAGE OF MULTI ORGAN FAILURE - A STATE IN WHICH THE HUMAN BODY DESPITE EXHAUSTIVE EFFORT BY IT'S PHYSICIAN ENTERS AN IRREVERSIBLE SITUATION LEADING TO IT'S DEMISE AND EVENTUAL DEATH NO MATTER AND WHATEVER TREATMENT IS GIVEN.I DO HOPE THAT A LOT OF MORAL LESSONS CAN BE DRAWN FROM WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO THIS TEAM. A TRUE HOLLYWOOD FAIRY TALE INDEED. SUCH WASTED YEAR AND TALENTS.
