The Orlando Magic are seeking a one-to-one affiliation with a D-League franchise that is based in Florida. The Magic would like the agreement to be a hybrid where the team operates and pays for the basketball operations and a separate ownership group runs the rest of the franchise. However, there isn't currently a D-League team in Florida. The D-League is discussing expanding its number of teams. “It will be carefully managed and hopefully an intelligent expansion process,” D-League president Dan Reed told the Orlando Sentinel. “The long-run goal is 30 teams, where every NBA team has its own NBA D-League team. I can’t tell you exactly when that will happen, but I think we’ll get closer to that in the near future.”
