My parents used to tell us about playing kick the can in back alleys. I never really understood the rules or the purpose of the game, but I feel like we are getting a pretty good look at the 21st century version every time news breaks about Dwight Howard. The can has been kicked again, with the Brooklyn Nets signing center Brook Lopez to a four-year extension and effectively taking...
The Magic's talks with the Nets have seemed to wind their course. The Cavaliers backed out of the reported three or four-team deal and have left the Magic and the Nets dealing with each other for Dwight Howard. It is no secret Howard wants to end up in Brooklyn, but Brooklyn lacks many of the assets to trade with Orlando directly -- thus the complex monster of a trade Brooklyn...
After three consecutive days of intense negotiations and talks with at least four different NBA teams, the Brooklyn Nets gave up all hope of acquiring Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard on Wednesday, and they turned their attention to giving a maximum contract to Brook Lopez instead. It was reported that Lopez had agreed to a four-year, $61 million contract with the Nets a deal...
Orlando Magic general manager Rob Hennigan held a press conference at 4 p.m. ET and, at that moment, refused to confirm reports that trade talks with the Brooklyn Nets focused on Dwight Howard were dead as multiple reports indicated. "That's not accurate," said Hennigan. "We're still talking to the Nets." But unless another team joins the discussions...
It appears that all of the talk of the so-called “Super Team” in Brooklyn, over the past few weeks was all for not, as the “New York Post” reported Wednesday afternoon, that according to their sources the Brooklyn Nets have broken off negotiations with the Orlando Magic to reach a deal that would have sent All-Star center Dwight Howard to the Nets. The paper’s sources...
The Houston Rockets began free agency hoping to be free agent players. They reached the end of the moratorium ready for a complete overhaul, all with the pursuit of a franchise player -- preferably Dwight Howard -- in mind. Free agency began with a deal on an offer sheet to Omer Asik, a meeting with Eric Gordon and negotiations with Goran Dragic. Within the first week, Gordon...
J.A. Adande of ESPN reported Wednesday morning that the Nets hope to have a resolution of the situation involving Dwight Howard by 6 p.m. today. What is expected is the Nets will sign center Brook Lopez, and either trade him to the Magic in order to receive Dwight, or to sign Lopez and drop the [...]
The web that is the Dwight Howard trade continues to grow as the Cavaliers have apparently backed out of the deal after failing to agree to terms with restricted free agent Kris Humphries. Reports now have the Bobcats or the Timberwolves entering the fray as a third team to help facilitate a deal between the Magic and the Nets for the All-NBA center.
The deal has completely ballooned...

Deron Williams and Dwight Howard talked about being NBA teammates four years ago during the Olympics. Now Williams knows there's speculation that it could happen soon.
He's aware of reports that Orlando and Brooklyn and trying to arrange a trade - possibly involving two other teams - but he's not paying too much attention to that.
''There's been a lot of...
Five things Im thinking about this weekend before heading to Texas Hatters to get fitted for my beret.
1. Something that seems true (and totally is): The Rockets are taking a gamble they cant lose.
You get one amnesty exception for the 10-year duration of the collective bargaining agreement signed last year. It basically allows you to waive a player before his contract is up and...
Although at times since he took over as Majority Owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Dan Gilbert has allowed his emotions to get the best of him, I have always admired him for his passion and respected him for sticking to his principles. By all accounts, Gilbert was a vocal hard-liner that helped extend the NBA Lockout this past season.
There were also reports that when the Los Angeles...
Even though it might have been exciting for fans, the negatives far outweighed the positives for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the proposed four-team, 10-player trade. The epicenter of the deal was to send Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard to the Brooklyn Nets. The teams enlisted the help of the Cavaliers because they had about $20 million in salary-cap space. The Cavaliers pulled...

Never fear, CLNSRadio listeners, for Matthew Rury is back! Tonight, the guys will be discussing Ray Allen, Dwight Howard, the olympic team, and whether [...]
