The Orlando Magic have requested waivers on veteran power forward Al Harrington. Harrington, 33, will become an unrestricted free agent if no team claims him within 48 hours. NBA.com said that Harrington is owed a guaranteed portion of his 14.7 million over the next two seasons, an amount that is about half of the contract. Harrington arrived in Orlando a year ago as part of the four-team deal that sent Dwight Howard to the Los Angeles Lakers. He averaged 5.1 points and 2.7 rebounds as he was limited to just 10 games due to a staph infection following knee surgery. Harrington needed three additional surgeries to recover from the infection. He returned to the court in late February and had nine points in a win over Philadelphia. Harrington also had 10 points in a March win over New Orleans, but did not play after March 15 as the team looked to get court time for younger players.
